Default Motor is smoking some. help

it is the metal tube coming from the valve cover. it goes to my intake. but since i have no intake the metal tube is open. it is blowing smoke out of the tube and a lil oil is dripping out of it. i checked sparg plugs and 3 of them were white and the other was black. what could be wrong? thanks

u have no intake?

i believe that tube is a crankcase vent tube. normally that smoke and oil would be rerouted to the intake system if you had an intake....

edit: i see you have the vortech charger...u can probably just put a "breather filter" on the valve cover tube and not worry about it. you might need to check it periodically for oil buildup.

Time for a rebuild... That smoke you see coming from the valve cover is blow-by... You're rings are gonna give soon, if they haven't already... Do a compression test and see what the numbers are...

hahaha....no it's not....that tube is there to be routed into intake and is used to relieve crank case pressure (inadequate to do the job right) oil and smoke will come from that hole....EVEN ON A BRAND NEW ENGINE!!!!....you don't think oil vaporizes?? hmmm...ohkay

What is your suggestion then...? Cause you proved nothing with that worthless post above...

White spark plugs usually mean you're running hot and/or getting detonation (spec's on electrode). You could be running too lean, which is common and dangerous on boosted engines. Check your a/f ratio and replace the plugs after you've got the fuel tuned properly. As for the black spark plug, check your valve cover grommet for that spark plug chamber to see if oil leaked down the tube.

i proved that it is not the rings that are bad because smoke comes out of that hole....

mostlikely that it is just condensation in the engine evaporating off when the engine gets up to operating tempature...

my suggestion is to put the hose that goes from the valve cover to the intake like it is suppose too....like it is suppose to be....or put a filter on it

Uhhh, in his original post he not only stated that smoke was coming from there, but that oil itself was beginning to drip from the tube... So I guess that's normal too huh...? Why don't you go ahead and explain blow-bye for me then...

the only time you'll see smoke/oil come out from breather valve is when your seals go and when you're getting blowby.. and in his case, more than likely pistons seals..

oil/smoke will still come through, until filter clogges up and causing further damage
