Battery indicator
Hi everyone!
Honda accord, LX 90
Got my batt indicator popping on while reving low or braking. Thought it was the alternator brushes. Replaced them! Same thing.
What else? Voltage regulator? Alternator diodes?
Help! Hate to go to mechanics to get my horse fixed.
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

should ahve tested the out put of your alt first. seeing as all the parts are internal. Would be cheaper in the long run to just replace the whole alt. and if the alt. test fine then it would be either your battery connections or the battery itself.
Low output voltage suggests a bad rectifier, not uncommon. The OEM Honda alternator is a cut above the Autozone replacements. I would pay the extra money to have an alternator shop check the field coils, rectifier, regulator, and replace bad parts. Expect to pay $75-125 depending on what's bad. Bearings and field coils are pretty tough, but the rest is subject to failure.

Thanx guys!
Didn't have a chance to check the output of the alt yet, but gonna do it. Batt is fine, I know for sure. But is there anything else (except the alternator and battery) in the system that would make the indicator go on?

There are quite a few items that can cause the Alt light to illuminate; bad battery connections, bad battery cable, bad alternator connections, regulator loose, rectifier has open leg. You have the most likely causes.
