lap times at summit point
just curious about what lap times are on the big course ,sorry never been to summit for car races ,my bro and boss are both pro 250cc roadracers ,just wondering what times the almighty honda cars run?
250cc is gonna be wicked fast out at SP. Jason in his ITA CRX's ran down to 1:26 or 1:27, I forget. There's a Grand-Am prepped Type R that ran 1:24.9, now that is flying for a production car!

Me in a Spec RX-7: 1:35s
A great driver in a Spec RX-7: 1:33s
Fast GT1 or Trans Am cars: 1:14s
Track record: 1:07 (in a FA at roughly 127 average speed)

Yeah, 1:07 at the Spring National in a Formula Atlantic. Pretty scary - his average speed is 10mph higher than my RX-7's max speed. Yikes!

Unofficial track record: 1:00.5 in a Penske Indycar a few years ago.

who dreams of 1:30's and can't even imagine 1:0whatever
I managed to click off a high 1:32 during the June NASA race, and was in the 1:33s pretty consistently during the November race (which was good for fastest lap in the small bore group for one of the races).

thats goin pretty damn fast ,`my bro does 18's and my boss does low to mid 16s so those times are damn good
BTW- I didn't realize the 250's were that fast. My housemate does 1:25's on his 93 Ducati 900SS racebike, and I thought *that* sounded damn quick.

Ed York in his E36 325is. Old SP ITS lap record = 1:27, Ed York in his E30 325is.
If your friend is running 1:26s in his ITA CRX it sure gives the guys that want the CRXs moved to ITS some ammo
I know ths ITA CRXs are running damn close to ITS times, a few points higher maybe?
ITA = spec CRX
That would be the Moorcones/Himes car? 2:17 at VIR, before it was destroyed when Allen went off in the uphill esses. They did finally finished a race -- the last one of the year, Daytona, back in Nov.

I don't think Jason ran a 1:27 during a SCCA race, I think it was during qualifying, or maybe NASA.
Ed got trounced by the boys from Bimmerworld @ VIR. They are seriously fast.
Paul was actually the one that crashed at the Glen. The car that ran a 1:24.9 @ SP is identical, but the car is owned by Dennis Lentz, who money shifted the same weekend he ran that time. Oops.

How in the world does an ITA CRX lap as quick as a Ducati 900SS Racebike...wtf
First of all, 1:27 in an ITA car is a little hard for me to believe. 28-29, sure. But 27's? Really? Damn, I gotta watch more MARRS races...
Secondly, the Duc in question has the 2-valve, 904cc motor, and was mostly stock this season (its first as a racebike)... which means it's got a lot of torque, but it still makes less than 90 wheel hp. Sure, it weighs less than 400 pounds, but that's not a ton of HP as far as bikes go (and nowhere near as good of a power-to-weight ratio as a 250cc racebike would have).
Thirdly... this brings the subject of much debate between myself and the few bike racers I know. They simply can't corner as fast, and they can't brake as late. Which means they aren't but so much faster down the straights, where they could ordinarily make up a whole bunch of time. This particular Duc would do an 11-sec 1/4 mile, but that doesn't mean squat if it exits T10 at Summit ~20mph slower than an ITA CRX, or goes thru T3 10mph slower. See what I mean? The simple physics of 2 wheels vs. 4 wheels comes into play here.
I'll guarantee you that Ducati is much sexier than the CRX, though.
