manual transmission fluid questions
Could someone tell me what is the difference between manual tranny fluid and auto tranny fluid? 95 LS tranny has no fluid in it and I went to a few auto part stores and didnt see anything around? Someone help out here
Manual or auto? If manual, can use Honda MTF which is good bang for the buck. For autos can use Castrol off the shelf (or whatever brand)...
Manual trans takes gear oil which looks a lot like your engine oil except it's much thicker and smells bad.
Trans fluid is a red colored lubricand that is used for a/t and some p/s systems.
Dexron III is used for most cars and Mercon is only for Fords.
If you have a/t use Dexron III.
If you have 5spd trans use 80w or 90w gear oil.
I hope this answers your question!
