Default battery dead or alternator finally went kaput?

i was trying to unscrew the map sensor but i stripped one of the bolts. since i couldnt take one of the bolts off, i just rescrewed the bolt i was able to take off and called it a day.

next day, my car hesistantly started. after 5 hours at work, i jumped in my car and it barely started. went to the store for a few hours. got in the car and tried to start it but it just kept clicking while i was turnin the ignition.

i jumpstarted my car and everything seemed fine. lights werent flickering or anything during the 30 minute drive back. im thinkin its my alternator. what do you guys think? or do you think its the battery?

do you think tryin to unscrew the map sensor might have caused a short or something? i doubt its related, but you never know.

how old is your battery?....try getting your battery tested 1st....if it was the alternator, the car probably wouldnt stay running.

not battery ...when the car driving flickering cause the car recharging its battery and use the power at the same time..so

well if you battery is recently new or not that new...if driving for 30 mins the battery should recharged itself to at point you able to start you car again next time.....if it can then something else

it is very obvious if the batter went out or not......jumpstart it, and run it....and cant start it meaning somethign else

check the positive wire from battery to the starter...recheck your stuffs where you work on it last time, you might knock something out of the way ...cuz it to get lose or something....im

gl finding ur problem

does it click only once with the turn of the key even if u hold it the start position? if thats the case, it may be your starter... mine went out on me at about 120k. And is fairly easy to replace. Batteries are alot like light bulbs, they can go out with no warning and be dead one day when u try to go start it. Most autoparts stores will charge test your battery for free. SO you can narrow down the possibilities. hope that helps.

Got in my car this past weekend after it sat for about an hr. Turned the key and got nothing. Didnt leave anything on. Dome lights came on, kenwood deck, alarm and console lights wouldnt come on though. Jumped the car, started no problem. Drove 30 minutes back home, turned the car off and then back on immediately and got nothing again. Had to jump the car. Turns out it was the battery, yet the battery was only 1 year and 2 months old. Try the battery first, esepcially if its old, its the easiest thing to do. Good luck, let us know what it was.

I had the same problem just yesterday. I started the car as usual in the morning and drove it for 20 min. Then parked it with everything off, closed the sunroof (moved slower then usual). In 30 min I came back to the car and it'd not start. It kept clicking. I don't know how old the battery is. There is no green light in the glass.

Anyway, I had to jump start the car. Now it starts fine. It's just a mistery. Maybe I should take it to a mechanic?
