Default fwiw, I'm using the Castrol synthetic 0w30 (made in Germany) ok with turdbl0w?

Some things to keep in mind:

The oil itself is green.

I've only found it at Autozone. Other auto parts stores didn't carry it.

There are two different bottles - so be on the lookout.

Always check the back for the label that says Made in Germany, because there are some that are made in the US (presumably old stock). It should have a red label.

I've previously been using mobil1 5w30 synthetic.

So far, so good.

Thanks for the recommendation ".RJ"

Oh yeah, and he has some pretty interesting watched topics too.....

Should I switch to something else when the b00st goes on?

I couldn't find that old oil thread to post there.....

there are different packages then, no big deal, just look for the made in germany on the back, other castrol syntec say made with domestic oils.

After hangin' 2 hours on the phone with an Castrol tech guy.

The 0w30 is not recommended for road race, etc. We highly recommend RS 10w60 for race cars or at least the 0w40, the things which are written on our hp about the 0w40 is more a marketing strategy to push the sell over the 10w60, but in real the 10w60 is the best for your car. It is heat resistance up to 240 degree C.. The new10w60 which was developed for the BMW M3 is the best for your car.

0w30 sux, I runned it 2 years and my engine needed about 1 litre on 1000km when I drove it hard. No oil concuption with RS 10W60, I use it for 40000km w/ any problems.

any 10-30 / 10-40 will do just fine . Pick your fave JDM flavor or whatever....anything but a zero weight.

As for me, Mobil kept my turbo POS alive...even after I lost all oil pressure and the oil return exploded, which i noticed 8 miles later

....its safe to say, I still rely on Mobil products to this day. *shrugg*

wheres ROR at when you need him ? He's always up for an oil debate. lmfa0

The 0W30 syntec (GDM) is thicker than 10w30 mobil1... FWIW.

So would the German 0w30 still be good for daily driving and the occasional vtec?

interesting....

but i imagine there is more to it....

for instance, the 20w-50 we used in previous racing job was as thin as water. However, if it got on your hands, or persons it was next to impossible to get the film off....stayed 'greasy' for the rest of the day, even after hand cleaner.

yes .rj, 'greasy' just like your mom's back hair.

Oil analysis then

Both my samples came out just fine, after 2 track weekends and 1000+ street/touge miles on the castrol shiz.
