Honda Engine Rebuild
I was wandering if anybody knows how much an engine rebuild goes for from a professional shop, and how much it cost doing it yourself. I am not going to boost this engine and would like to replace general stock parts for my Senior Project. Any inputs are welcome but I prefer serious input though.

I don't know how much shops around here charge, but I can help you with the DIY side.
Head:
valve job - $275 to $350
replace & hone to size valve guides - $112 to $128
mill deck to square up the head (as needed) - $50
assembly - $50?
polish combustion chamber/deshroud valves & cc to equal size (optional) - $75 to polish & deshroud, more to cc the chambers and equalize the volumes
port runner & port bowl work (optional) - several hundred
Block:
bore & hone - $75 to $150
hone - $50 to $100
Crank:
Micropolish & Chamfer - $50
Balance (reciprocating pieces included as well) - $100
I usually spend around $300 for replacement rings, seals, o-rings, and fasteners. New water pump, timing belt, tensioner, and oil pump will set you back another $300.
Bearing for the engine are probably around $150 to $200 for OEM Honda pieces and $100 for ACL.
If you need bearings for the tranny, or clutch, then that'll be $100+ more as well.
I'm doing an engine rebuild right now, so feel free to search topics under my SN to find stuff you might find useful.
