Default Accord > Del Sol?

Hey all, I posted this topic in the Del Sol/Civic forum and figured to post here and see what your opinions were.

Basically I have a 94 Del Sol SI and I think I could get $5k from selling it, and buy a 94+ Accord for about $2900-3100. I just use my car as a daily driver, no real projects in mind.

My dilema though is that although I've only owned my Del Sol for about 5 months, I really enjoyed the car, though $2k cash leftover would be a great bonus to have on the side. I figure that Accord's reputation may not be the same as the convertible Sol, so I'm curious to see your take on them.

Thanks,

Greg

expect your new car to be slower, have worse gas mileage, and off the bat, not being able to handle aswell as your old car. but expect it to ride smoother, and carry more stuff.

if you enjoy your delsol then why sell it? your getting rid of a sports coupe for a family car? dont expect the spirited days you had, when you had your sol. unless you take the supposed 2k you save and put it back into the car. i would keep the delsol, but its your choice man.

del sol... sport...

In any case, I've never driven a del sol, but I imagine they handle like little go-carts. But none the less, I wouldn't take one over my Accord. They are very small and impractical.

Yeah... one of my friends called my Sol a go-cart... then I reminded him that it was a convertable and got bad-*** gas mileage compared to his caddy... It might just be me, but I'd never sell my Sol for an Accord. Chicks dig convertables!!

Buddy in college had a Del Sol as his first car. Used to go food shopping all the time. Works great if just him and I. Add another mutual friend... I end up sitting on the arm rest, him driving, and our mutual friend looking out for cops.

imho show off = pratical use w/ friends and beer runs =

Del Sol's look pretty girlie to me...way too small...definitely a car Honda should have left out of their lineup, lol.

Accords have style and can be made to look pretty damn nice....like fw190bvi said, the accord is the most underrated honda ever...

BTW find an accord and go down a curvy road with it, then take your sol down the same road you will find yourself taking corners a lot faster in the sol than in the "family car" accord.

And the accord is not the most underrated vehicle that honda motors has ever made that would be the vigor I 5 before its time.

lol i dont know but personally i like that car, maybe cause i have the same colored car but i would only lose the m3 mirros, everything else i like, especially the gold rims for some reason....

but for the del sol,,, my friend use to sport one, but if you ever even think of fitting a 3rd person in there it better be 2 chicks cause one of their asses will be all up in your face the whole ride home... it is a fun car to have for a grocery getter or schooling, but for family/friends the accord would def. be a better choice to have for the long run. lol just to throw it in a few people calls that car the del slo

Have you ever driven an Accord? If not, please don't make comments like that. I loved the way my Accord handled. It handled very well for only upgraded springs, struts and tires.

You know, Accords happen to be one of the best handling Hondas once the proper steps have been taken, and it doesn't cost very much to make it happen. They may be heavier, but that's easily compensated for with proper suspension tuning and rubber. My old car could keep up with a lot of new cars on a twisty road, and it liked the lif-off oversteer. Del Sols aren't bad cars, but they're not as good as a properly tuned Accord.

ok one more time

Never did i say that accords didn't handle well. In fact they handle really well for a midsized sedan. If i was going to go out and get a new mid sized for under 20k it would be an accord hands down. How ever if i was looking for a a small sports car for under 5k that got great gas mileage i would be a del sol, the accord would not cross my mind

But in the end it just depends on what you are looking for in a car Greg

calm down, no one said you said that "Accords don't handle well". You said a del sol would take curves faster than an Accord. I merely stated that if you haven't driven an Accord don't make a comment like that because you don't know if it's true or not and that Accords handle very well but I have no comparison arguement because I haven't driven a Del Sol. Brandon basically said the same, that Accords handle great when tuned properly.

I agree with you though. It all comes down to whatever the owner of the vehicle prefers.

I have driven stock accords before the suspension in my opinion feels softer or more loose than a stock del sol, but again thats just my opinion. If you do get the accord make it an ex. In 94 that will get you a 145hp 4banger or get a 95 V-6 with 170hp. I would go with the V-6 if i was going to get an accord. Torque is fun

Not only do I concur with "Touring" but I have a wagon with coilovers and a strut bar and dropped a few inches (Not to mention a heavy as speaker box in the back and a 250lb driver). With all that I can out corner my best friend in his 93 escort GT. I love the way my baby handles and all that on factory wheels and tires. I say stick go with your values. If you want to stick with the sporty death trap, do it. If you want the extra dough in your pocket sell and buy the accord. In order to have some fun you will have to put money into that accord though. (Sorry fellas but it's true). Stock accords are not all that sporty. Then again stock anything isn't enough for me.

I didn't mean the inside...I meant the whole car...it looks too scrunched up for my looks...offers nothing to the imagination...

And I think I would know a thing or two about good handling cars...I have an Integra Type-R...
