Default oil leak?

im looking into getting a 1990 CRX si...so i take this one that im considering into the mechanics shop to have them lift it up and check out the undercarriage for rust or any other ****.

the bottom is like totally covered in what appears to be oil that has been spraying back from the engine area....
the oil residue is all the back to the muffler. its not like a steady stream or anything, but clearly something has been dripping a bit and then getting sprayed all over the underbody.

oil levels in the engine and transmission are normal, in fact a litte overfilled in the motor.

any ideas what could be leaking?

EDIT: engine is a SOHC ZC...not sure whether its the Si or ZC tranny.

thanks,

i would have him degrease the hell out of it get the engine as clean as it can be, and watch for fresh oil leaks. i would say that would be the best and easy way to find out

Is that oil that's sprayed back to the muffler old or new? The reason I ask is that I once had a Volvo that - while driving down the highway - lost it's oil drain plug and ended up spraying oil all over the underside of the car, even back to the muffler. Maybe this is what happened to his car.
