Default OEM catalytic converter

I posted another place here in the forum with a couple of trouble codes I am getting. One of them is telling me that I have CAT problems. After going through hundreds of posts I found a bunch about the CATS. I called my Honda dealer but I am 7K over the allowed mileage and they won't do anything about it. They quoted me $600 or so just for the part which I'll burn in hell before I would ever pay that for one. I am trying to find somewhere that I can get them cheaper. I checked ebay and found 3 pages for CATS but everyone one of them are high flow racing type and I don't want in any way to be able to hear my exhaust any louder than it is now which I'm confident these $20-$40 cats will do. Could you guys take a look at Ebay and point me to a couple that are OEM equivalent or point me to a couple of good parts websites that have stock type CATS for my car?

Car is a 98 Accord LX 4cyl 5 speed.

Thanks in advance.

Most ebay 'cats' are really just straight through pipes. Definitely not legal in many states. Here are some good ones:

You'll want to measure your stock piping for this, and any muffler shop can get you/make you flanges for it:

It's not going to be much different, if at all, from stock.

Good luck!

I payed 175 shipped overnight (would have been cheaper if I didn't need it the next day) for a cat from Superior Racing Development. It was for my Civic but I'm sure pricing would be similar. Fit great and is working great. No complaints.

Looked like this one except it didn't have the O2 sensor bung and the two bolt flange swivled so it would have no problem mounting to the header.

i don't know what code you got but i remember answering a similar question sometime ago... and what i said, (if you do the search here you will find it) check your 02 sensors before you go run change your CAT... believe me, you might be able to save money from actually spending it on t he CAt..... CATs i don't think usually go bad, unless ofcourse something stupid like what happened to me - my cousin putting full tank of diesel fuel to run the car and then running it for 5 miles without giving a freak... (I am still pissed about that).,.. do some more search, you will find your answer

try discountconverters.com

I bought one for an Audi A6 I used to own. The drivers side cat went bad (you could hear the pieces rattling around inside) and the dealer wanted $800 for the ONE cat. Thankfully I didn't need both! I ended up buying one from the above website and I think it cost around $230.

ive bought a magnaflow universal cat for under 50 on ebay, but thats because its universal youll need to get it welded... if you plan on going that route, you can purchase another resonator if you want to quiet your exhaust a little if youre that concerned about the sound...
