Default Hondata ECU

I was thinking of getting an JUN ECU, but I might be having second thought's. I am thinking of getting a hondata stage 3 ecu. I have a Hondata dealer here locally so I could have them burn the chip and program the ecu....with dyno tuning of course. I have all JUN; type 3 cams, retainers, springs, and gears... I heard that jun just uses a basic program and by using hondata I can fully tune my car to it's full potential.

Plus...it comes out to a lil under a grand ($1,000), which is nice, tuning included.
For the JUN ecu I can get it for $1,275, but all I have to do is plug and play.

What do you guys think.....

Does anybody have any experience with Hondata ECU and can throw in there two cents.... I just want to buy what is best but in order for me to spend like a grand I would like to know more from the users than the sellers of there opinions. Should I go with Hondata or JUN ECU?

Thanks,

P.S. ... I do most of my search here in Honda-tech.com cause people here seem more experienced & have alot of good input...etc....

Thanks again

A few days ago I had to decide in a similar point. I had to choose Hondata or Apex power fc and I took the Apex. I´ve got the information, that with the Hondata ECU you can make the settings only once. If other mods follow, you have to spend a few hundered bucks in another eprom. I`m not sure but that`s what I`ve been told.

So what`s wrong with power fc+commander ? IMHO that will give you all you need to tune your car again and again when it`s needed.

just my two cents

True, but the only problem with the power fc is, around here where I'm at. No one knows enough about it to tune it for me.... the only other option in mind other than hondata was getting the JUN ECU and even that it's $600.00 to have it sent back to Japan to have it reprogramed. And I am pritty sure I will stick with my current mods... If I plan on changing the mods, I might aswell wait for the rsx type-r to come out in the states as roomers have it. I mean I don't want to have to keep on spending money unless this car was a track strickly car. I am pritty sure I would love my current plans as soon as I decide on an ECU that is. Hehehehe

Hundreds getting a new eprom? Someone is overcharging.

A new write once chip is like 5 bucks.
Rewritable chip is 25.

I dont usually charge to burn a new eprom since usually its after dyno tuning.
I cant speak for other dealers/tuners though.

Any way to change between fuel maps on the fly? Say fuel economy mode for commutes and ***** out mode for when you feel like it? I'm guessing I'd at least need a Hondata stage 4b, but does that allow on the fly tuning with a laptop?

no.

But lets face it, if you cant control your own right foot then you have issues.

Come on now, economy mode? There is no such thing.
A good program should give you max power while accelerating and give you
max gas mileage while cruising.

The only reason I brought it up was because somebody brought up the idea of having multiple fuel maps, economy mode being one of them and it sounded like it made sense. In addition nobody corrected the guy so I just assumed he had validity in what he was saying.

But since I guess you are aiming for stoichometric ratios all the time to get the best burn I see what you mean.
