yes for cage work. I do not have enough money to invest in a mill type notcher.

I've been drawing up plans to make myself a tubing notcher. 1hp electric single phase motor. Custom turned end mill holder and coupler to motor shaft. Pillow blocks. Custom turned roughing end mill shanks and a cross sliding vise. Should be pretty sweet. Cost around 1k with a range of sized end mills.

i first tried using a horizontal mill and set it up with v-block in the vice... i just couldnt get it to work... to machine had too many ajustments on it that the whole table would always move... i ended up getting the mb one (pictured above)... it makes everything so much easier

oh... DONT cheap out on the endmills... i tried cheaper ones or re-cut ones at first and they just didnt work... they wore out way to fast didnt like 4130 too much to sy the least

Should have worked perfectly with a milling machine!

Those things are really nice. Annular cutters I believe is what they are called and they make very clean and fast cuts!
