LS or B20?
First off wassup everybody I'm new to this site. Ok here's the question. Recently I bought an EG HB and I am deciding on which motor buildup I am going to undertake for it. Right now I'm just running a stock LS. What is going in is a full turbo setup(Drag turbo, IC, FMU, boost controller, injectors...the works)but have heard conflicting stories on bottom ends. Some say that the LS is stronger than the b20, but then I've also heard ffom another that the b20 is just as strong as the LS. Now I definitely want to run at least a 2.0 ltr, but is keeping the LS bottom end and just boring it to a 2.0 any better than just using the b20 (either way it's getting sleeved). also I will be upgrading pistons/rods, all turbo specific. Also what about a stroker kit? would it advantageous or just detrimental to my cause? Thanks.
people are gonna tell you to search it your friend, my opinion from what your telling me with turbo setup either way is fine, becuz your planning upgrading your internals so it really doesnt matter at this point...there is a difference between LS and B20 due to the fact that B20 has bigger bore and thinner walls so yes LS bottom is stronger then a B20...ask around if there is any people out there who has a LS 92-95 HB vs B20 92-95 HB and see if there is a difference make sure the tranny is the same too!
and im pretty sure if u put the b20 in the car u will have to use the ls or gsr or b16 tranny anyways. and i have heard that too. about the b18 and b20 blocks being exactly the same except for the bigger bore in the b20 which would make the cylinder walls thinner. which would be bad for boosting. i have a ls in my hatch and i love it and if u turbo it im sure it will be lovely. im not turbo'd but i do miss vtec.

MMMMM Boosted LS, ur going to love it. B20 does have thinner sleeves, thus making them more vunerable. But ive also heaverd great things about boosted b20's so im not going to take anything away from them. either way u go im sure u will be happy, as for the reliablility standpoint i say LS.

I have seen a b20 turboed Integra back in Roanoke, VA! Belonged to a guy named Nathan! Very Fast!!! It has last for over 2 yrs. So it all relies in how you build it, tune it, and take care of it, however I would stay with the LS route for turbo, IMO!!

I personally had both in my 93 hatch. I have a b20 now because I got it cheap and I spun a rod bearing in my LS( for sale
) but anyway I loved the LS. 140 vs 126hp. I feel the difference up top. B20 has alittle bet more torque but its not that noticable. Plus like everybody else said the LS will last longer because of the its thicker walls when you boost
. And if your thinking bout sleeving it doesnt matter, buy the b20, boost it, blow it up, and put the sleeved LS in
!! Thats what Im doing. Sorry so long but I hope this helps

Doesnt the b20z have 140+? I would go with a b20 vtec and go all motor.

But the B20 block isn't designed to rev that high. So, you'll have a cylinder head made for 8,200 RPM and a block made for 6,500 RPM. Everyone who has done the B20 VTEC has done bottom end work to rev higher.

Theres a guy here in Omaha that has a boosted b20vtec in a 94 coupe.
Thing is fully built. But he is constantly in my buddies shop, b/c he blows the damn thing up every six months.
I'd go LS

I never said anything about reving it high, of course you would need to do some work. Also, he said he would be upgrading the internals so it wouldnt matter either way.

I have the low compression b20b. Im just saying from what I have used. If he does do b20z yeah 140+, but still weak sleeves
!!, and higher compression, but again if he is sleeving it it doesnt matter.
