here we go with more damn problems with my damn car...it started when my exhaust got ripped out from the cat when i hit a raised manhole, the cat was fine, just the catback exhaust got wrecked, once i replaced it i was driving down the highway and the heat sheild came lose and was draggin on the road evenutally i hit a small bump and the sheild fell off..now after a few days since the exhaust being on theres this light tapping noise commin from the motor, sounds like its commin from right under the spark plug cover WHAT IS THAT???!!! everytime i accelerate it taps faster and then slows down when i take my foot off, i checked the oil and thats fine, someone said i may need to have my valves adjusted? can it be something with the fuel injection? just add a cleaner or something? i probably cant take it to the shop till next week, but is it ok to drive around until then? or is my motor gonna blow, cause i have a 1 1/2 drive each way commin up this weekend also theres this rattling noise commin sounds like from underneath the car on at 2 thousand rpms i dont know what that is either? someone please give me some insight before i take it to the shop so i know what im in for?

 

Sounds like you've got tapping valves. You might want to get them adjusted . But this tapping noise is when your car is already warmed up?

 

yeah it taps after the car is warmed up

 

either your valves or your rods and you should get that fixed ASAP before you throw one or bend one

 

Does the tap go away when vtec engages? It could be a stuck or bad lost motion assembly.

It could be some of the other stuff mentioned above too.

 

my motor d15b7 140k does that 2... im wondering myself what it is.. mine only does it when the motor is cold... and when i give it a constant little gas... when i let my foot off it stops ticking.. motors at the same rpms tho..

now i was thinking its my valves.. havent adj. them yet, but then a friend said maybe its my injectors.. so i bought this stuff from walmart.. bardaul or something like that.. cleans.. injectors, intake valves, combustion chamber., not sure whatelse.. but yea im gonna try that.. if that dont work i guess the valves need to be adjusted..
