AEM's intakes are the most expensive, but from what I hear, Ebay intakes work just as well.

You're new so i'll help you. Search before posting anything. This single suggestion could save your *** in the future at H-T.

Here is the link READ THIS! https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=979961

Now for the intake question. Someone had a graph showing the different hp gains between 5 units. There almost all the same. Just get what you want. Second, what engine do you have. This could change you decision.

i remember Honda Tuning doing a dyno test between different intakes 2 years ago on an RSX type S. well i pulled the magazine out to check and the AEM CAI did the best. here are the results:

K&N drop in filter: _______-0.1 hp and +0.0 torque
AEM short ram:_________+5.4 hp and +4.9 torque
K&N typhoon:___________+7.4 hp and +3.1 torque
Jackson ram:___________+7.8 hp and +4.2 torque
DC short ram:__________+9.2 hp and +2.5 torque
Injen:_________________+9.2 hp and +3.0 torque
DC sports CAI:_________+19.7 hp and +5.7 torque
AEM CAI:______________+20.7 hp and +5.3 torque

* if you search you will find way more helpful info...

yes, but that is a RSX-S which respond to bolt-ons very well. our poor little cars are lucky to get 3-4 hp.

i am pretty happy with my Bomz racing one off of ebay. It was like $50 shipped and it is the full length CAI. The short ram is good too but it sucks in more hot air, which means that it is less dense. The colder the more dense. But really you can get AEM for like 100 bucks more but for only another hp or two, why?

**** AEM and the major brand CAI's...

Get a generic brand piping, and put on a godd quality filter. THose kits are not nearly worth the 200 bux.

i agree with you. the HP figures would be on a much smaller scale but overall the AEM intake would probably still be one of the best.

A Twenty HP increase. im having a hard time Beliving that. I cant Imagine Any intake alone Having that big of a Affect. You would need to Also Upgrade the Header, and Exaust to see such a big gain. Looks Like some of those companys might have Slipped the guy a few twentys befor he wrote it. lol

Thats What i have, hell there all the same anyways. Im not spending 200 bucks just cuz it Says AEM.
Besides The stock air box is You safest choice. I know there not the cool thing but It will save youre motor. If you incounter deep Water.

well if you have a hard time believing it then it must be a personal problem. if you check out the November 2002 issue of Honda Tuning they have the dyno sheets for it.

like you, i don't use the AEM intake either. i've got the DIY special... but on the RSX type S the intake did a good job. even if it was really pricey.

Ya know what Tho. What i Never liked about the mag dyno sheet thing is, Really you never know if its true or not. My biggest problem is that a Twenty Hp Increase is that alot. How could the Stock airbox Restrict Air that much to cause the motor to loose 20 hp. It doesn't make much sense if you think about it.

I Wasn't saying you were wrong or anything. But How can we trust these companys and mags. Hell Any mag will make a product look good even If they suck. Look at APC, They have all kinds of ads in import mags. Just seems funny that there would be such a increase. Also Every company claims that a intake will Free up all this extra HP. When in truth, its just a general Figure. Like say The AEM did free up 20 Hp. They Will put that on every Box they sell regardless of car. And they wont say that it might be limited to that model. this is were i have a problem With beliveing that ****. All these companys Exagerate there Products. And to Elaborate on this i Hear AEMs Cam Gears Slip real bad. But you wont hear a Mag Tell you that.

Amen bro. i dont really trust anything that any company says either. this is why i ask the guys at shops what they think and what there experience is with stuff. because like you said companys will butter up their products to get some good sells.

to believing what a manufacturer says about its product
to hearing how the things work from race shops and others
