Default The car smokes sometimes

The car smokes sometimes just when you accelerate from a stop. It is obvious it is burning oil. it only does this at about the first 2 stop lights, after that it seems okay.

I have good compression across all cylinders.

I do have a slight valve cover leak, oil does show on the exhaust manifold from the valve cover leak. i have no idea if this is related or if it could be. one of my theories is that oil is pooling where the manifold meets the head and seeps in at just the right temperature. and it come out the tail pipe... and once the car is truly warmed up the exhaust mani is sealed better... but that is a long shot... i don't hear any exhaust leak at all....

I had a much worse leak,, then i added some blue rtv silicone permatex to the old gasket... and it is all most gone... if i buy a new gasket, should i use permatex with that as well? or just the clean new gasket?
