Default SKUNK2 S2's VS My stock EK9 CTR Cams

Hi Guys/Gals, I have an 1998 Jap import EK9 CTR. I am looking to change my cams. I have already got Skunk2 Cam Gears, and was looking to purchase Skunk2 Stage 2 Cams, Skunk2 Valve Springs, Retainers and will use stock Honda Valves. Then once I have saved up would be looking to purchase an ECU, maybe a Apexi Power FC.

Would these Cams be much better in performance then my stock EK9 CTR ones? Or do you think I should use my stock Cams and use the money to get an ECU?

Also if I had the Skunk2 Set-up as above, would I require a strengthened Cam Belt and Head bolts? Also I suppose it would be a good idea to get a 2-ply Head Gasket.

Any ideas or info appreciated.

If anyone knows where I can get the cheapest official Skunk2 Gear online, please let me know. Cheapest I can find so far is $620 for New Skunk2 S2 Cams, is this cheap?

PS – I am in the UK, therefore not fully sure a good price or a not so good price.

Thanks.

I've heard a lot of horror stories with Skunk valvetrain. Go with crower or ferrea. From what I understand Crower makes some nice B series cams too.

Yeah I have been reading and every is going wild over Buddy Club Cams. Need to research into them. What stages are there avilable? Where can I buy them online cheap as I am in the UK and there are no places that sell them here.

Will Buddy Club Cams be alot better then my stock EK9 CTR ones? What valvetrain is recommended, buddy club??

Thanks.

Have been running The Skunk2 Stage 1 cams and valve train for over a year. No problems, no issues, and put down excellent power for Stage1 cams. It all comes down to the tuner and the cam gears.

Hmmmmm....I spoke to a mate of mine, he says its all down to the tuner/fitter, not to do with the Skunk2 kit. Are my stock CTR EK9 cams on par with Skunk2 Stage 1's or 2's???
