Why besides Falken Azenis??? Everyone that has them is very happy with the performance and they all say that they handle better and hold up longer than the stock tires. For less than half the cost, why wouldn't you get them?!

i know that theres people that like them and the price is not bad at all , i know of a shop that stocks them and also heard from people that do auto X that after 500 miles they really give you excellent grip . but i also want to know what other options do i have , you know !

I haven't tried anything else besise the re010 except for snow tires. But, I think the re010s are awesome. I've never broken the care lose, and when you drive over gravel, they'll pick it up and throw it(sticky).

my RE010 ran out at 15000miles

currently running with RE730~ not too bad in the dry but better in the wet

and they will last at least two time longer than RE010

after my RE730 ran out~ i will go for S-03

My stock tires only lasted 6500 miles, after the tires I have now are gone (Potenza 910, which I don't like at all) I'll have the Azenis. I've heard though, that the S0-3 is one of the best out there, especially if you aren't worred about cost.

Hey i purchased the Yokohamas 008a or i think thats the number, and not for nothing but they handle just about the same except for one thing, THEY SQUEAL ALOT and they even cost about $25 less per tire and they are the stock size. As for your tires going so quick my first set only lasted about 12k but as you drive the car more you will learn not to do so many burouts and u will learn to take corners smoother ( DRIVE BETTER WITH AGE). Hope this helped!

The factory bridgestones are great for about 10k. After they wear a little they are rock hard and dangerous on wet roads. I replaced them with Nitto 555 195-55, I can't really coment on these tires. I put them on the morning after I ran the R in a ditch....wet road....slick Bridgestones.....crash and burn.

I think they just chunk when driven hard. I've gone through two sets, and each of them chunked at an event after they already had 10k+ miles on them...

I think the RE010 are outstanding. Their handling is crisp - better than any other street tire. They stick in the dry. They do fine when the roads are wet (unlike the Falken Azenis, which suck on wet pavement). I give props to Honda for having the guts to put a high-performance tire on this car, instead of a longer-treadlife tire that doesn't stick as well.

I agree... My tires may have chunked on me, but they allowed me to be faster around the track than some other cars that I shouldn't even stand a chance against.
Even though I really like the RE010's, I decided to try a set of S03's this time just to see the difference. I guess I'll find out how they hold up on the track at the Expo!

My stock re010's didn't chunk at a track event with about 12K miles on them, but they did chunk at a track event with about 20K miles on them. I'm still driving them with maybe 23K miles, but they're pretty much bald and very dangerous. When I switch out the winter tires soon, the re010's will be retired for good. I don't know why alot of guys get less than 10K miles on them.

I like the stock tires alot. When the eventually wear out, if I find a good deal on them, I'll purchase another set. I feel very good response in both wet and dry. I have apporx. 4600 miles on them including two autocrosses, and two trips to the 1/4 mile. They honestly still look brand new, I dig 'em.
My 0.2.

What does a tire that chunked look like?

I did my first autoX about a week ago and I had 16K miles on the clock with stock tires. 90% of the miles are highway. The outside part of the contact patch seems like it got worked a little bit but not to the point where I think it's unsafe to drive on them.

There's a photo of a tire with severe chunking here.

Thanks for the link bro. That's one ugly tire I must say. What causes a tire to chunk? Is it age or the type of rubber that it's composed of? If I bought brand new RE010s, will they chunk right away?

They will probably never chunk unless you take them on the track. If you drive on the track and do some hard cornering, they may chunk a little - but probably not as bad as the ones in the photo.
