Own a 1995 Integra GS-R.

Just got my turbo kit this last weekend! Woo hoo! It's a garage queen so I'll get it installed by... maybe April 2005? But I need to dump some money into it first, and before I do, I want to make sure I'm buying the right stuff.

Among the things I want to get are a FAL Fan set.

FAL Fans... if I keep the dual core stock size (11/16" thick or 15/16" thick) Integra radiator and get a set of FAL fans does it fit with the turbo and manifold? Do you have a picture?

 

Oh yea the FAL fans will leave plenty of clearance for the turbo.

You wouldn't believe it, but I still haven't gotten the turbo kit installed. Yeah, I'm a lazy SOB.

But in any case, I recently got laid off and my daughter is back in school, so I have plenty of time now. I've been cranking on the thing recently and...

It is tight. Not just kind of tight, but "bring me Crisco and a shoe horn" tight. I'm worried about space and grinding on the engine. It looks like I'll have to grind down the engine code plate (the little part of the engine that says "B18C1") as well as a good bit of the webbing. I'm not so concerned about the webbing, but the plate has me terrified to the point I'm considering selling this massive T3/T04E turbo and buying a smaller T3 turbo.

Does anyone have first hand knowledge of whether the fans will fit or not? And can you supply me a picture?

 

I don't like the sound of cutting anything on the engine, especially the webbing. Why don't you just run a half core radiator? Do you have a picture of how tight things are?

OP, OT;

cutting the webbing right there is not going to be a problem. i would however be slightly concerned about cutting the ID plate. mine rubs a tiny bit, but it was the best i could get it to fit without cutting the ID plate. one thing that you will probably notice is that if your turbo inlet is rubbing, then your downpipe is probably going to rub on the drivers side bottom motor mount. i had to shave mine back after removing the AC compressor.

also, since it sounds like your putting the downpipe on the drivers side, the turbo will sit closer to the block and you should be able to run the stock radiator/fan. im running a garrett t3/t04e 57 trim and it fits fine with the stock rad. i did have to make new mounts to pull the radiator closer to the frame in the front. gave me about an extra inch of clearance for the motor to rock without something poking a hole in the radiator.

Grinding the block is very normal on the revhard/drag turbo kits of the day. Everybody did it.

 

i have a different car with less engine room, but i made my fans pushers for more room
