Default Spark Plugs

I've been searchin and i noticed in all the "searched" threads none of them say specifically if the plugs they are talking about are for VTEC or non-VTEC. I'm going to be changing my plugs for the first time since i bought the car and i wanna know what plugs you guys suggest for a 93 prelude VTEC w/ H22a swap, NA(common bolt-ons, and Gude cams). I barely know anything about plugs. i don't know if i need hotter ones or colder one or what?

just get platinum. boshc is what i use. they work good... you wont notice any huge gains unless you have a **** load of mods done.

Yeah, NGKs or Bosch are fine...you don't really need to worry about hot or cold plugs unless your using forced induction where heat is a major issue.

Stock plugs for VTEC are NGK PZFR6F-11 or Denso PKJ20CR-L11
I think NGK are the most suitable Honda engines seem to like NGK that bit better, I would avoid Bosch.

Non VTEC plugs are NGK ZFR6F-11 or Denso KJ20CR-L11

The "P" in the VTEC plugs stands for Platinum, and the 11 at the end for pre-gapped to 1.1mm, and you will be OK with stock heat range plugs, which is the 6 in the plug number.

i bought the ZFR6F-11's before i read your post....is that bad since i have VTEC....do i need to take them back? the guy at the parts store used his computer to find what was compatible and his list included the ZFR6F-11's. What do i do? Or are these ok to use on VTEC?

You say that you did a H22 swap and I bet the guy just put your car details in and came up with a non VTEC car ? If so it's a genuine mistake as he won't have known it's had a swap, so just go back and explain that and kindly ask if he will change them for the correct ones, shouldn't be a problem. The plugs will work but Platinum are designed to stand up to the extra demand VTEC places on them.

Its showing on the reciept as "This ticket contains parts for a 93 HONDA PRELUDE 2.2L VTEC" so he couldnt have brought it up wrong? should i still go and switch them out?
Think they would take them back...i put a mile on them already.

does platinum and copper really make a difference or is it that one last longer than the other?

All I can say to that is ask them they can only say No at the worst, but if there's been confusion most places will just change them as a goodwill gesture, and the interests of customer satisfaction, just be honest with them. Platinum are longer lasting approx 60k miles and are dearer, so you will have to stump up the difference if you return them.

how do you change the spark plugs?

is it a simple pull out, replace, and put back in?
