Default Question about my 01 prelude

What is the best way to get some nice horsepower out of the h22 lude for a resonable price. I already have the usual cold air, catback exhaust.

what do you mean by "nice" hp gains? got some numbers in mind? Cause I could babble about F.I. till im blue in the face. But if thats not in your budget, then I would have wasted my time. If your planning FI or NA, then just do a search, there are countless posts about "The next step".

step 1:
What are you using the car for? how much power do you need? 788 whp? 200 whp? how much are you willing to give up in terms of reliability, maintenance, and comfort? is this a street car? a drag car? a race car? Set a general hp goal, and a way to get there. 200 whp would be reasonable for a mild NA build. 300+ is reasonable for a turbo build.

step 2:
set a budget. turbo costs close to 8000 bucks, if not more. Bolt ons and tuning will set you back around $3000 if you get the best parts.

step 3:
research individual parts and the specifics of your build. There's a great pair of threads in this forum on NA and turbo builds, that should answer all your questions, and more, and leave you asking some more questions that will eventually be resolved.

I thinking about a turbo set up i was thinking a OBX turbo manifold with a
Garrett/ Hybrid T3 or T3/T4 turbo and the slowly acwire the rest of the kit and have the car ready to go for spring. What is your recomendation for my h22 turbo set up?

my recommendation for you is to search this forum - not for turbo parts to buy - but for information - if you are not careful with turbo - you will kill your motor - and even if you are careful with turbo - something will go wrong - and you'll have fix it with both money and knowledge.

you still didn't answer what your goal for your lude was. bad-monkey asked a lot of questions that you need to answer before you start picking out mani's and turbos.

the search button will answer all of your questions.

seriously. The more you get into the turbo route, the more you realize that it's not just something you slap on and mash. The guys on here that REALLY know what they're talking about when it comes to FI, the guys that have built more than a few turbo motors, and blown plenty, and have dealt with the thousands of problems will tell you that Forced induction isn't just a mod, it's pretty much a lifestyle. You're taking a high compression naturally aspirated 4 cylinder and throwing a turbo on it, it's not an easy thing to do right.

anyway, like i said, start reading that monster 24 page "Official Turbo Prelude Thread" at MINIMUM. That'll give you a look at just how involved it is to go FI on an h22. as far as specific suggestions as to parts and ****, i've been around a while and i peek into the FI threads but when it comes to FI i don't know ****.
