Calling all Honda Navigation System Hackers
Just purchased an imported '98 Odyssey with Nav rig and other whizzy bits. Unfortunately the Nav system is for Japan in Japanese. When I contacted Honda in NZ they said there hasn't been a release of the navigation system for New Zealand. Also suspect that Nav software is combination of firmware and map database (on CD in this case). So, chances of getting English software and maps for NZ are pretty much nil.
What I'm curious about is whether or not some one out there has reverse engineered or obtained an API for the system and written any software for it? I'd be happy with the Nav menu/display just displaying the current grid coordinates and time (there is no clock/time display in the car, well at least not one that I can find). Or, alternatively, instructions on how to view this (via Japanese menus
.
Anyone out there in Honda-Tech land that has had a crack at this?
TIA
