Default a20 crx

Alright, I'm not a newb. I forgot my old password. Here's a question if anybody has any info on it. I have an stock a20a3- the charge pipe, that kills a stock 2k civic si. I am 1 poor bastard who can't afford any upgrade engines for my slow crx dx which has i/h/e+. I bought my crx specifically for this swap. The biggest obstruction i have is, nobody has ever done this swap before, from what i know. I've been trying to research this swap for the past 6 months and found no info on it anywhere on the internet. Has anybod ever heard of any one doing this before? What was the outcome? Was it cost effective? What kind of **** was involved (motor mount fabrication, enginebay modding)? Please help me out if you have any info or advice.

what type of engine is found in this prelude? SOHC? how much power does it make?

if people havnt done it by now, it may not even be worth swapping this particular engine in...

I'm not sure about eh Prelude. But the A20 is also found in the 1986-1989 Accord. Although this engine displaces 2.0 liters, it is not particularly powerful. Carbureted versions put out 100HP. And fuel injected versions put out 110HP (1986-1987) or 120HP (1988-1989). Regardless, this motor is NOT going to be a drop-in. And no kit is available to ease this swap. The reason? Nobody does it. The power output is just too low and the aftermarket for this motor is almost entirely non-existant. Other motors are easier to swap, more powerful, and have better aftermarket support.

120 hp 116 trq. I like it because i already have it and it only has 40k on it. The biggest problem is, not that many people make upgrade parts for it as far as I know. But it kicks suped up 99 accords and stock 2k si's alike . The pros vs. si b16a2, is it gets 33mpg in the city, 40 on the highway under hard driving. si only gets 16/31. Cons: don't know if it'll fit, never heard of anyone making mounts for a crx swap.

How do you know it kills 99+ Accords and stock Si's?

You killed an Si with your 87 Prelude?

Please read StorminMatt's response to your question and look for something else to drop into a CRX.

i'd like to see this done. i bet it would be very neat. if there is room for fi... hehe. 2000cc sohc... as for the lack of aftermarket parts... you can make some of them yourself... get the cam re-ground... some custom pistons... it would be very neat. i know that an f20b has been put into a crx and its a 2000cc sohc engine... it may be some of the same.

a + is, if you can somehow pull the swap off, this engine is alwaysss in the junkyard for any replacement parts, but id just build a motor that fits... every time i see that prelude in the yard, i think to myself, wow that engine bay is ugly and filled up.

You should just save up for 10 years and buy one of these: http://www.engdev.com/index2.htm

Go to the Products link, look at those motor swaps.

Judd Power!!

ya ima gona call this swap useless. man 120??? for all that work? not worth it.
want cheap power? sell that engine. and buy a DOHC ZC for like $500. it mounts right in and though it will have less trq, you will get 10 more HP out of a smaller, lighter and more tuner followed engine. and as for the gas mileage you'll get your 30/40 mpg. ive seen people do H22 swaps into CRX's and that is hella cool, and hella ******* fast but it takes work. but your also loking at 200?HP as compared to 120. anyway cheap engine = ZC= easy swap ( took me and 1 friend 1 night) = more horsepower and faster car= you happier with the money and time you spend.

I agree, I smell BS too...87 Quaalude? Not so much. I know you couldn't have beaten my old 3rd gen Prelude let alone an Si. Hell, an 87 Quaalude couldn't beat my D16Z6 5th gen
Edit: Best time for stock Quaalude I can find is 17.0. That's slower than a D16A1.

A ZC swap or D16Z6 would be a better choice if you can't afford a B.

we all know the 4 wheel steering is what made it so fast.

ya about the 17.0 1/4 i think my stock hf could run a 17 or 18 with 63 HP
