Default Help!! Tein SS Coilovers rusting on shock stem

I installed my Tein SS coilovers about 2 months ago. I bought them used but only used slightly, they came in very good condition. I popped my hood today to look at my motor and I saw rust on the shock stem threads. I checked the rears also and they have rust as well, not as much but it is still there. I am really worried about this since the rust my prevent me from taking the coilovers off if i needed to. So I am wondering what may be the cause of this and how can I prevent it? Thanks!
Picture is from a camera phone but hey its somthing.

clean them up with some rust remover, and seal it with...i dunno some electrical tape or something, or a rust sealent, just make sure to not make the seal to fast that it fills the threads...what i would do.

ya i guess that is a good solution but what is the cause of the problem, I am trying to eliminate the cause. Also, does anyone know where to get another shock boot from?

Thanks!

its just some surface rust dude, this isnt the rust that eats away at metal, though it could get there EVENTUALLY, it would take a long time, years and years. Just clean it up and try to find whats leakin liquid onto it....maybe a spray of silicone or something....but your in no immediate danger

I would understand something leaking on them in the front but the rear is covered by that plastic carpet?

Sorry to tell you this, but it's completely normal since Tein's surface coat is CRAP. I know first hand with my Tein HA's. I just put some anti-sieze on it and hope that works as WD-40 doesn't help as all it does is loosen the nut.

Remove the rust, put WD40 on it and cover it with something.

I'm with him on this one. I have the Type HA's as well and the coating is ******* useless. You should see THATPRELUDEGUY's Teins........you know how they're supposed to be green?? His rear ones are black due to all the paint chipping off.
