96 accord lx advice
Firs of all I dont know that much about cars...I know the basics and a few things
I got an 96 Accord of my aunt as a gift, it has 96,000 miles but the car fisically is awsome, she also maintained it very well, the interior is like new. When the car is parked the rpm's are like a 1,000 the I put it one drive the rpms drop to like 700 is this normal?? When the rpms drop the car shakes a little but not much. Another thing is when the compressor of the A/C starts the car does the little shake again like it is going to turn off. Could it be the battery or the alternator or what? It has a little noise also that could be the belts or the valves...not sure, sound like the valves. Can it be the spark plugs? What the hell.... I dont know if selling the car or stay with it. What do you think?, I also have a crappy Daewoo that I can sell that also to and combine the two sells on one new car or use the Daewoo sell to repair the Accord.

the rpm thing is normal....and the shaking is due to either a dirty throttle body, semi-clogged injectors, or possibly relating to the distrubtor=>wires=>spark plug electrical flow....if you up to it, pour 1-2 cans of fuel injector cleaner into your gas tank before you next fill up, and check your spark plugs for any fouling....alwasy remembers its good to have a trusted mechanic that you know well
to check for the noise, just pop the hood, have a friend slowly rev the engine, and listen for where exactly the sound is coming from....if its coming from the head (where the wires go into) then its the valves...ovbiously youll be able to tell if its the belts
best of luck, and welcome to honda tech.....definantly keep the accord...one of the best cars ever made
