Who cares that its a GM. My hat goes off to those guy for getting the car figured out so swiftly. Car is consistent, and was as straight as an arrow..
BTW, it was cool seeing marty ladwig ( or any hot rod car) qualified #2 with a 7.9
... Imagine 3 years ago, thinking a 7.9 and not even a top qualifier,hehe

Heard through the grapevine that they got disqualified for running a 10.5W tire. It's almost an inch wider than a regular 10.5. Not that it would've slowed them down much at all, that car will haul *** regardless. Congrats on the win, sucks about the tire deal.

A MT w tire which is stamped with a 10.5" is actually a 11.5" or 12" wide tire. Even tho it is stamped with 10.5, that isnt the case. Alot of the 10.5" mustang guys run it and that is why you'll hear them say "I ran it on a true 10.5".
to nhra for catching it.

I'll have to take a closer look at the shots I have of the car from when they were testing at Irwindale and see if I can read the sidewalls...
Looking at the M/T spec sheet, it looks like all their 28/10.5-15 tires have a tread width of 10.0 inches, but all of them are right around 12 inches wide across the sidewalls. Anybody know if the NHRA checks total width, or just the tread face? Maybe Jim will chime in once he gets back to the office...
And Art is absolutely right - the M/T 28/10.5W has a nominal tread width of 10.9 inches and a width across the sidewalls of 13.1 inches.
