Well I bought a lincoln electric 100 pac from a friend, he threw in helmet and gloves for $300. Pretty good price, says it can weld up to 1/4 inch steel. My main question is, he said gas can be hooked up, and I'm pretty sure it can. How hard is it to hook up the gas though ? Anyone care to comment on the machine ?

what do you want to weld?

 

I'm gonna be doing exhaust, strut bars, maybe weld in a cage when I get better at welding. Things like that.

 

it should be fine for what you need it for, depending on the tube wall thickness of the cage you might have to play around with your gas / wire to get some good penitration
