Default 16" Wheels offset question.

Whats the highest offset wheels that will still clear a 4 or 6 pot?

On what?

I'm running a set of FD Wheels on my 5th Gen Prelude, and car these wheels came off of had 4-pot calipers.

Each is different, as the offset doesn't always indicate caliper clearance as the spokes really need to be pushed out/thin spokes. If you're looking to see if it'll clear you'll have to see how much clearance the spokes have in addition to the offset of the wheel. In the end (since none of the measurements that you'll get are exact) it'll be about either custom building a multi-piece rim or making educated guess unless the shop that you're buying them has it in stock.

you didn't list the width of the wheel either........ S2000 Spoon Wheels are 16*7 up front with 35mm offset to clear the spoon calipers.

similar.... Evo's are 17*8 stock (i think) and have 35mm offsets (i think) to clear the brembo's.....

I know offset has nothing to do with clearing the caliper, hence the question
width, say 16x7, 16x7.5 max
I am looking for the biggest offset available, that will still clear a 4 pot, an example of the spoon wheels are great with 35mm offset, anything higher, 40mm? 45mm?

The FDs I have on my Prelude I think would clear a set of 4-pots, and they are +50mm.

Check out RX7Club.com, that's where I found my first set.

The FD guys don't want these rims.

My first set I picked up for $250 with tires, but the paint was fading. This next set I bought for $400 shipped from a guy on eBay. These were in premium condition.

I don't know what you are trying to put these on, but the bolt pattern is 5x114.3, 16x8 and 15 lbs.

I am running 16x7.5 Kosie K1's (+44 offset I believe). On my 99 hatch with ITR 5 lug brakes. I still have a good amount of room to shove some kind of big brake kit or some bigger calipers in there...

I hope that helps

ITR's are the same brake system as on the stock 5th gen Prelude. Also meaning it's a single pot. Which 4 pot or 6 pot are you looking for? The only ones that I know that have even some chance of clearing are the Rotora set which supposedly is fine with most 17" rims. Brembo's you need custom 17" rims regardless of offset. Though I'd be suprised if you need anything more than the Baer system.

You need to be more specific in your question. Spoon makes a factory size 4 piston caliper and someone like AP or Brembo etc... would make a caliper that is twice the size of stock. What is your reasoning for wanting to bring the wheel as close to the car as possible? Just curious.

Looking at using wilwood stuff... I can problably make my own if needs be, then just use wilwood internals, so round about same size. I can also just move the brake disc hat further away. But a bigger offset will allow me to put in longer A-Arms.
