Sunroof plug - a different approach
Since the GTI comes with a tinted glass moonroof, I decided to emulate the OE look by painting my sunroof hole patch black. It seemed more fool-proof than trying to match the stock white paint, too.
I'm almost a little surprised how good it looks so I had to share...

From the bottom, it's just rows of 1/8" steel pop rivet ends, poking through the holes that I drilled. It's just a flat sheet that overlaps the hole 3/4" on each side and around the corners, with rivets on 1.5" spacing. You just can't see the heads very well since it's a dark color, I guess...
