Look, please don't tell me to go to the drag race forum cuz I want input from lude owners not some guy with a GS-R.I searched but only boosted and built up motors were available in the search. I have a close to stock(I/E/H my only mods.) h22a4 and azenis on stock 15's and I was wondering what would be a good rpm launch. I've been letting go at around 5 grand but have been told that this is too high. I recently lost a drag race that every one in the know says I should have won, they say my launching technique was the culprit. So where should I launch at?? (BTW I have an h23 trans and it falls out of VTEC very easily.
There is no specific point on where to launch, every car is different and so is every driver, it all depends on your suspension, tires you are using and ofcourse your setup, engine wise. All I can tell you is go to the track and practice, and the track you'll be able to see how good your launches are and where you need to make improvements. If a track is not available all I can say is practice and go with your best feeling. With Azenis I would say anywhere from 4.5k-5k is a good point to launch, try to minimize wheel spin but also becareful of bogging. Lowering your tires air pressure also helps reduce wheel hop if that's a problem you encounter but I don't really recommend it on the streets too much but It can't hurt every now and then, just make sure you reinflate your tires, 20-22 psi is good. Have fun next time and practice
on the track i launch at about 3900 and on the street at about 3200. the best way i found to launch is launch it so that when u drop it it spins enough that when it finally grabs you are just barely in vtec. if u do it correctly it should put you in your seat a bit. so find a desolate area that the gay cops are not going to find you and give you a ticket and just practice launching at different rpms
Pratice, pratice, pratice!
Find your sweet spot and launch from there. Some launch at 3K, some launch in VTEC (5200K).
IMO, I would launch in 5K, redline it, shift while you're still in VTEC. Who cares what anyone say, do what you want.
Edit: just read about your tranny, you need a better tranny.

ok guys thanx for the input here's a little more info on my set up ,I have a tein coil over suspension and custom Placeracing motor mounts so my motor is in solid and I have NO wheel spin what so ever, When I launch at 5 grand I get real bad wheel hop and my rpm's drop to about 4300 or so before I get traction and then I pull. So based on this info do you think I should try a lower launch or is this cool??(BTW how bad will an h23 trans hurt the performance of my motor cuz LIke I said it falls out of VTEC easily unless I shift like at 7500 or so.)
Every time I "launch" or go, my engine bogs down and I get passed by 1980 station wagons. Whats the deal? I rev up a little and say I spin tires a bit, but then the revs fall so far in first that it just bogs.. engine related or technique?
