is a b16 head bettter to build than a b18c1
i wanted to build the head on my 94 gsr some guy told me that a b16 head is better to build than a gsr is that true. what would be some good cams and valves and valve spings is porting werth it thanks
depending on your application. the c1 head has a more direct shot into the combustion chamber, along with less cc's. the b16/c5 head flows way better in stock form, or even slightly modified form. but in an all out max hp application, i think b18c1 head dominates. just make sure the head is done right. 80% of people DON'T have it done right.
if you don't believe me that c1 head is better, do a search for my b20 destroker 1.8 motor which made 212/143 at the wheels. or even better yet, call tom at portflow or larry at endyn. they'll tell you.
bottom line is, if you're gonna be less than 12:1 and have a goal of less than 195whp, stick w/ b16 head. if you're a little crazy and have an urge to spend TOO MUCH money on your motor, go b18c1 head.
