Default need to quiet my exhaust--2nd resonator or stock muffler?

well ive been complaining about it for a while now. i have a stock b16 rex. right now i have the the stock header and then right after the header i have a 17" resonator and then custom piping to exhaust. its still to loud for me on the highway, its just really LOW tone that sounds like subs are blaring at 3100rpms. what would be better for quieting it down, another resonator before the muffler or just get a stock muffler. PLEASE help

another resonator isnt going to quiet it down it will just make it deeper in tone. If you are looking to queit the exhaust down try a chambered muffler. Other than that the noise is what comes with bigger piping. but try the chambered muffler thats the only real thing that will quiet you down a little bit.

From what I've heard with resonators, they mainly take out that "rasp" that occurs so often on hondas with low-restriction exhausts. You can try another resonator, but your best bet would probably be to re-evaluate the muffler you have on there.

Which muffler do you have? Is it a 'stock' style, like a straight through magnaflow/ES Oval? or is it a canister type? The canisters tend to be louder than the oval-style mufflers. I have 2.5" through a 14" resonator all the way back to an ES Oval and its pretty dang quiet.

I know chambered mufflers arent a big thing in the import community, but those will definitely be quieter.

i'm running no cat, 2.25 piping, 25" glasspack (cherry bomb), with a straight through performance dynomax, and my exhaust has a nice tone.

if you have a b16, you want it to breath, so dont choke it up.

right now i have a dynomax super turbo. it sounds good until im at 3100 rpms and then its a really deep loud sound. its not bad when the windows are down but winter is coming and with the windows up it is annoying. im trying to figure out if another resonator before the muffler would do anything or if i just need to put on a stock si exhaust.

stock muffler will hurt you, do u want performance or sound? another resonator will probly just make it deeper, lol cut out the cat, that would make things interesting,

hmm how about a high flow cat? it will certainly quiet the exhaust down to acceptable levels. I love how my rex sounded without a cat and Trust exhaust but it was just too loud for most people and I couldn't hear the stereo without blasting it.

these exhausts brag about having great flow, without the "fartcan"

(anyone who wants to chime in if you have one, thatd be cool)

when my crx is done im gonna try one of these:

I am running a gutted cat, 2.25" piping, resonator, and a dynomax super turbo(. Mine is super quiet. You cant hear it at all inside the car. Before I got the resonator it started to get loud about 3k and sounded like total *** at 6k+. I only have a ZC but it sounds like I still have a D15b2 in there. I like it.

those rs-r exhausts are perfect if you are going for that stock sleeper sound..but damn it opens up when you're in the high rpm, and when vtec hits it roars.

i've used their catback setup and was very pleased on my b18c in my HB

i've also used a custom catback with 2.25" piping, catco hiflow cat, resonator and dynomax turbo muffler and that sounded just as great at a fraction of the price.

hey it sounds like we have similar setups only i don't have a cat (and diff motor). maybe thats what i need to invest in. do you think if i put my cat were the resonator is (right after the header) and then move the resonator toward back toward the muffler that this will help?

Sorry to slightly high jack this thread, but where can I find more information on the chambered mufflers? They sounds interesting...

My cat is in stock location but its gutted. My resonator is right before my rear axle. I *think* he used a resonator off a mustang on mine but Im not sure because that was some time ago when I got it. Piping just follows the stock route.

Are you using a glasspack for a resonator? I had a friend that was and he switched to a real resonator from the muffler shop and it quieted it down. Just something I thought I would throw out there. I would think a cat would quiet it down but dont really know for sure.

glasspacks are usually longer, mine is generic and its 25", usualy resonators for hondas are much shorter in length.

i have a b18a1, 4-1 header with 2.5" collector, high flow cat, resonator, 2.5" piping, back to a dynomax dual outlet muffler that i got off of some kids dynomax neon RT catback (lol). it sounds awesome. quiet enough not to be "loud" but not so quiet that it sounds stock. It has a nice deep tone with no raspiness whatsoever. It doesnt even sound like a trademark honda
