Default Short Shifter for 5th gen

I searched for this and found a something about ppl swapping out 4th gen base for a 5th gen. I'm a lil confused cuz can't you just buy one from neuspeed or b&m I know they make one for the 5th gen so what's up with that, the date was also 2004 so? Is the installtation weird or something i've done them before on other cars so it shouldn't really be different right?

The shifter in 5th Gen Preludes is integrated into its plastic baseplate and shift assembly. This makes it nearly impossible to remove the shift lever and replace it with a new one. With some modification you can fit a 4th Gen baseplate and shift assembly in place of the stock 5th Gen unit. This allows you to install a Forbidden Motorsports Short Shifter.

Or you can use the LeanRacing Short Shifter, but it is just a modified stock unit. IMO the Forbidden Shifter is the most quality piece on the market.

neuspeed is just a short shifter adaptor. Not a true short shifter like the forbidden piece.

After you put the 4th gen base plate and shift assembly in the 5th gen, would u be able to put back the center console thing that covers the whole shift assembly cleanly, or would it have to be modified.

The 5th Gen center console will fit right back on. Some minor trimming of the plastic boot ring may be needed to run the highest setting. I had to trim this plastic in my 4th Gen when I switched to the highest setting. Here is a handy little diagram I made up in MSPaint awhile back.

I agree, the throw in the 5th gens are short enough already I thought......you want to go any shorter, you might as well go with the sportshift.....but who the hell wants an autoż
