205/50-15 on stock rim questions
will there be any problems with running this size - i know alot of you do - but are there any offset or speedo problems with running the size? could you make me aware of all things i need to consider?
also - kumho ecstas are decent i gather, that was my plan.

i talked to some guy at acura and he said that if the tires are the wrong size it will throw off everything including the speedo - like air/fuel ratios and everything like that...it all seemed shady to me, also said it screwed up the "syncros and stuff when helping match revs" - quoth mike at acura
mike doesnt have much of an idea what he's talking about. yea the speedo might be slightly off (id say at about 80 mph, it might be like 2 or 3 miles off, if that)
but let everyone here tell you, mostly everyone, including me, is running 205-50-15 and we all have no problems with it, it only helps.
right now i temporarily sqwitched back to 195-55-15 and the it feels like **** compared with 205's.

you may be off a few mph on the speedo, but not much. The thing with the syncros and A/F ratios messing up is BS. The 205's have a 7.5mm smaller radius, which is nothing really.
One benefit is you will never scratch your rims on curbs again.

Your speedo will be off by 2.1 mph at 100mph. So at any normal driving speeds you won't be able to notice it.
This also means that you'll only add up 21 extra miles to your odometer every 1000 miles you actually travel. So 1000 mi actual = 1021 mi indicated.

yeah getting 205/50/15s for your car is fine, i just had my kumhos same size as ur refering to put on last month and their fine. its amazing what some people at the dealership will say to make you think they know wassup.
I'm running 205/50/15 and at 4k rpm in 5th gear i'm doing 78mph. I would suggest you get the Falken Azenis in that size. I believe it is a much better tire than the Kumho, and it runs about $60 each, which is a good price. As for my tires, I am running the Bridgestone Potenza RE730's and love them.
i dont think the speedo will get messed up. if you think about it, it works like a ration in physics. the odo counts the tire spin not from the engine. Plus i also heard that the 205 width makes up for the difference in tire height. Please someone correct me if im wrong?? I wondered this before and i hope someone credible can confirm this?

I can't imagine there being any issues,i run nitto 450 extremes 205/50/15 and the car handles great however theres a little more gap in the wheel well but nothing a little suspension can't fix.You can get nittos that are VR rated for around 65$ a piece plus mount and balance. And about another 7$ for road hazard in wich they will replace any tire thats unrepairable as long as it has 1/32 of an inch left on it.
hahhahahahahahah....throw off air to fuel ratios? baaaaaahahahahahhaha. I'm suprised you didn't laugh your *** off when he said that. I know a guy with a GSR thats been running 205/50s for years on years, it'll be fine.
I run that size without spacers and I don't rub anywhere. You will rub with 225s without spacers. I think most people would agree that the 205s are better for preformance than the 195s. HTH
i did chuckle when he mentioned air/fuel ratios - ive never heard of the azenis (ive heard of falken) - we think those are better than kumho ecstas?
