Anyone know how to get in touch with Euroimage?
I sent an email to these addresses: jimr@euroimage.us, euro.image@verizon.net - one bounced, no response from the other.
Thanks!

If prices were half what they are, they'd do 3x more business.

digital pics... not exactly a smokin' deal considering how cheap it is to take digital pics... i understand that they do need to make money, but they are already taking the pictures so that is a sunk cost... selling more pics at a lower price would result in more profit. i honestly think the price scares away quite a few people (myself included). i spend enough on a track weekend (and its still less than what most spend) and i cannot warrant $45 to see some pictures of myself. $20? i'm about 20x more likely to pay that.

that isn't the issue, you're getting off-track. the issue is they would do more business with cheaper prices... yes i made these numbers up:
150 sets sold @ $25 = $3750
75 sets sold @ $45 = $3375
perhaps they have taken a look at the point of diminishing returns, perhaps not...

cheaper = more business.. that is what I think also.
I guess they have to pay for the equipment somehow.
what if you had the option for cheaper pictures... would you chose the cheaper of the 2 (or 3) or go by pictures quality only?

more money is more money (see above example)... i don't think their costs go up linearly with the number of pictures they have downloaded/printed so it would make sound business sense to sell more pictures at a lower price.
a $1k camera (with a noob behind it) takes pictures of more than enough quality for me (see grand-am pics). someone offering a cheaper alternative would probably be offering pictures on-par or better than such pics, so i would likely go with them.
again, perhaps they have looked at this already...

Maybe you're right - I only buy pics 2 or 3 times per year, maybe if they were $30 instead of $50 I'd buy more often.
I suppose they are doing well though, they are at every NASA event.

Yes, after considering the sunk cost of already having taken the pictures ... given your above example they'd have to work twice as hard (e-mails, billing, finding and sending the desired customer's pictures) to make an extra 11%. Taking a page from RJ's book, that's well into the area of significantly diminishing returns.

We work with Euroimage, and I'll vouch for his work. While a nice digital camera body is about $1500, the lenses can add up. We just picked up a 70-200 F/2.8 Canon L-series lens, and it was about $1500. Takes beautiful pictures, however.
I was looking at a nice 500mm super telephoto lens last night, it would make a great addition to my aresenal. Unfortunately, I don't have $7500 to spend on it

As someone else who has taken and sold pix of track events I can tell you that the equipment to do it right really adds up. Take the guy at Beaverun for example - he has two or three people out running around with digital cameras, a computer with high speed cd burner and a photo quality printer all sitting at the track. So yeah he's got more money tied up there than I do in my friggin track car.
It seems like if you charge less you would get more people but you'd be surprised at how few people actually buy, even at low prices. If anyone wants my pictures I only charge a couple bucks more than what it costs me to get a high quality print made up. And I still don't sell that many. People can say they would buy more but honestly most are happy with taking the low-res files I put on my web page.
Sorry to ramble but I guess bottom line is that it costs more and is harder than most people think. Glad you're happy with what you ended up getting dotrj - care to post one or two?
