Default Is my oil pres. sending unit bad?

Few days ago while driving on the autobahn I lost basically 90something percent of my engine oil. I only realized it when I got to my destination and smoke started coming from the vents and under the hood. Come to find out when the engine revved, oil started coming out of the oil pressure sending unit that I had installed with an oil pressure gauge. It was coming form the top where the wire connects to. Is it bad or can I just replace the gasket or something?

teflon tape doesnt last very long since its gotta hold up to a petroleum (sp) product. there is a special yellow tape for oil and gas. its the only thing that has worked for me thus far. ill look for it and post it up.

I tried to tighten it down but it didnt help. I had to take it out. Just wanted to know if I should put it back in or just buy a new one. Imagine driving 40MPH on the autobahn.
