diet for a '91 EX?
Alright I've read the forum rules, the guide to basic accords and done a search too so hopefully I've got this post right.
I've got a 4th gen. '91 Accord EX sedan completely stock. What I want to know is are there any easy ways to reduce my car's weight? I'm not sure how accurate they are, but according to Edmunds my car is ~ 2923lbs. The way I see it, if I can loose about 350lbs. I should have the same weight/hp ratio as an '03 civic only with a much better weight/torque ratio. That's alotta weight to loose though and unless I start cutting stuff off I think it's a lofty idea, just wondering though.
Thanks for any ideas.

if you completely gut your interior, take off your AC and PS you should get a pretty significant weight loss, not to mention a little extra power from losing the accessories. however, i woudnt suggest this for a daily driver
First of all, your accord will be heavy no matter what you take out.
You can take out some things, but you will have to sacrifice a certain level of comfort. For example, power steering. You could take out the power steering and lose 50lbs or so, but have you ever tried to turn an accord without power steering? It's a bitch.
You could also take out the A/C. Lose the 30lbs, but have to pay to have it drained professionally and no longer having that feature in the hot summer sun. Is all that worth 30lbs?
Some things like spare tire and jack can be an easy way to lose 25lbs, but be sure you don't get a flat. It's up to you ultimately, I'm just trying to put things in perspective.

If that's the case, you might wanna take a gas can with you.

alright thanks- that helps to put things in perspective a bit
What about the hood though- how much can i loose by replacing it? And wheels too? Is there a place I can find the weights for peices of the car- a manual or something?

I have done a lot of weight reduction on my VR6 Jetta. One being that I scraped all of the sound deadening off the floor and removed all the pads/sand bags from under the carpet. That was about 50 lbs. I also removed my AC system... about 40 lbs. How about the sound deadening from the underside of your hood?
I would strip everything out of the interior except for maybe the front two seats the ac system and i would keep the power steering. and instead of running with almost no gas in it you could take out the gas tank and get a fuel cell from summit or something that would take some work routing the fuel lines to that. and about the wheels most aftermarkets weigh a lot more than stock
