Default How do JUNIIIs idle?

Im looking to get a much better idle in my car (therefore going VTEC) bt still would like to make some good power. Id like as close to stock idle as possible. Are JUN111s to wild for this?

BTW: Compression would be 12:1 if that matters.

I wouldn't use the term smooth with the JUN 3s. It's fairly rough. People can tell that I'm running big cams from the sound. I never tried the JUN 2s or 1s. 100% happy with it tho.

Peace...

Can't really recomend you to anything other than stock ITR, since that's the only cams I have prior experience with.

Peace...

Why? There are trade-offs with any power adder...

Type 3's idle is mild compared to the spec b or c setups I've heard. Hell, I'm running spec b's and my idle is almost like stock. The sound is a function of your intake and exhaust setup. Quiet those down if you're worried about being given away... Or just say you ignition needs some work (bad plugs, wires, etc...)

****. I'd have to run open header to sound like that!

Find someone local to you with type 3's and take a ride with them. You really have to know what to listen for to detect them at idle...

With a b20 setup, type 3's would be badass!

All the JUN cams idle like stock, so do Skunk2.

Good choices, all of them.

Mike: Would you go for the JUN or Skunk2 cams? Also, what valvetrain?

I'm betting ~220whp+

But the high-revving nature of the type 3's could be detrimental to the poor rod/ stroke ratio of the b20vtec...

Clearance issues? (piston/valve contact)

The Jun3 cams are an excellent choice. As far as clearance is concerned, I went as far as +5 on the intake cam, and as much as -4 on the exhaust cam.. but not as the same time. LOL. The head was milled 20 thousandths and they were Endyn pistons. No contact.

Best results were seen at -1 intake cam, +2 exhaust cam.

No, with the Endyn pistons I think there is plenty of clerance. Hell I might even clay the clearance.

Good thing I got a girdle since these rev so high.

Val

Is your idle worse since your rebuild? Have you changed cam timing since you put it back to 0, 0?
I have 62404's already on order for my B18B rebuild and just wondered if you had changed your mind on these cams.

I havnt retuned them yet, the cam gears are still at +4,-4. It didnt seem like the rebuild changed the idle.
