Default How to make the 1990-1993 Accord Lighter????

Hey guys another question. My frien has a 1993 LX Sedan Accord and I was wondering do you all know how to make it lighter. So far I told him to take out the back seats;get a carbon fiber hood;take the A/C out;take the power steering out;take the spare tire out. Is there anymore else that we could do to make his accord lighter??????????????????????????

gut the full interior is the only other thing, he could mount his battery in the trunk to spread some weight out........why does he want to do this?

Weel he's getting an H22a Swap and he wants to make it as light as he can. Like taking a hatch back and gutting it and CF everywhere.

So he's dedicated on making his car a track bitch? I would tell him to really think about how serious he wants to be.

Get rid of the engine. That should lighten her up a bit. Also the tires and all seats should be removed. You can sacrafice the comfort for speed when you sit on a green plastic pickle bucket instead (you get a feel of the road better anyway so it's a win-win situation). All chrome/plastic caps should be removed and be replaced with Seran Wrap (rubber bands for the seals). Remove the mirrors. Why do you need to look behind your car when all you want to see is the track ahead of you? Don't forget to remove all manuals and title records.. those will weigh it down a bit too. Good luck.

i have a good friend w/ a 93 ex coupe. he has totally gutted the full interior and trunk... we sat there for hours with a heat gun scraping the sound detoning material out. (not sure if the LX's have that) we are in the process of building his h22 for drag and he runs it every weekend on the good ol sohc. so far best time is 15.5 at 90. like forced accord said... he needs to think about how serious he is. its like driving in a wind tunnel when that thing is on the street.

peace

You guys are insane, I would never gut my interior on my daily driver. It makes absolutely no sense for a couple reasons; #1 It looks like complete **** #2 If you were in an accident you'd be fucked #3 Goodluck getting anything for the car when you trade in/resale #4 Don't be surprised at the insurance claims adjustor when he says, "what the **** is this?" then gives you a check(if you're lucky) for about $20 bucks then drops your *** off the insurance plan you're on.

Have fun though

did you ever consider some ppl are more interested in speed, and losing a few hundred pounds.. then having leather back seats? i didn't buy sparco evo's for 500 bucks a pop to keep a whole useless trunk and backseat in my car, in an accident.. what.. you won't have a piece of side molding and sound denting.. and rear seats to get crushed? dosn't matter for safety issues.. and next.. isurance could give a hell that you took your interior out

not to bad mouth the accord because i love mine but if you want to lose weight get a different car. If you want all track you might aswell get a light car like an old integra or something.

lol. . remove your rear seats, and you'll die in a wreck!

sheesh.

if this guys made of money, he can do a lot to lighten the car. CF hood, CF trunklid. Ultra-lightweight rims (maybe some cp-035's, but he'll have to order them from japan. they dont make them for our car here in the US), lose the PS, the AC, all associated parts (condenser, etc), all the seats except for his, the carpet, the sound deadening, the spare tire, the speakers, the radio, replace glass with lexan. . . . . i could go on but then we're getting a little crazy already. . .

How much comfort is he willing to sacrifice? AS you strip more material out of the car you loose the comfort factor, along with increase road noise. If he is gutting his car becuase he wants it to look like a racecar not for the fact that you cannot be as fast as possible with extra weight then pour gasoline in the interior of the car and light it on fire, that will reduce his weight drastically. I see way to many gutted daily driven street cars that have never been on a track.

1 - looks better than maad phat tezzaz y0!

2 - how would having an interior help you in an accident, i though thats what the side beams and body shell were for

3 - car is not an investment, its a consumable good, only value is to its owner, this is a moot point

4 - wrong bucko, if its bolted down its covered, and if he is smart he will place what is deemed extra on the extra coverage

morgan is the only tool here, we dont need another, thank you drive through

i think the point may be that this is a secondary car for track use. We may be a little to judgemental before we know the intentions of the driver.
