what seats will work inna 89 hatchback???
my drivers side seat in my 89 dx is completely shot, the drivers side bolster is non-existent and its straight metal popping up. my question is - which seats will work in this car? can i take 90-93 integra seats and swap the rails with my civic rails and bolt them right in? will crx seats work if i put my rails on them? who knows what combinations of seats will work in this car? thanks in advance....
so its not possible to put my rails onto any other seats and have it work? someone help me out here...i need to try and find some seats today.....id like to find some 88-91 si hatchback seats but finding them in good condition is nearly impossible it seems....
I have 1992 prelude font seats in mine. But thats not a simple bolt in. They do offer awesum lateral support however.
i am getting ready to put 88 mr2 seats in mine. looks like its gonna be a pain but they have adjustable front of seat base tilt, lumbar support (i need it) and side bolster support.

Yes 88-89 Civic seats work, don't know about sedans but CRXes don't work. 88-91 Civic Hatch from other countries work too, IE JDM, EDM, CDM. US was the only country with ghey seatbelts in doors, in 90-91.

EF8 seats will bolt directly in to 88-89's (although i recommend swapping the rails, which is a 10 min job, to give you leg room) I got mine pretty cheap (or so i think) at $130 including shipping. I love'em.

i would get some recaro's but this is my backup car....dx automatic....hahaha....only things i changed were cd player, si cluster, and passenger mirror.....it has cold a/c and the mileage is awesome.....only thing shatty about the car are the seats, and the crappy ridge moldings on the exterior
this is from the FAQ stickyed thread.
if you reuse the seatpans and rails, you can put almost any honda seat in your car.

otherwise, try to match the year as close as you can, and dont get crx ones since youd have to mod them like above, or drill holes or whatever.

Hey how much did you have to modify to make it work, just might do this myself since i have some gsr cloth seats and just got a 89 crx as a daily driver.

You can use pretty much any seat, it just depends on how much trouble you want to go to in getting them to fit. Im using 90 prelude seats in my 91 CRX, one of the holes lines up so you only need to modify 3 bolt locations.

The front holes should line up (you may have to drill a new hole on one side) (i forget) then the back inner (center) you will have to use somthing about an inch cubed and drill a hole in it from top to bottom. I used a peice of billit aluminum but ive seen wood blocks work. Then for the rear outer bracket you need to get a flat peice of steel to put over the floor where the hole is gonna line up and bolt the piece of metal to the floor to strenthen it. Then you can put you bolt through the seat it may kinda bend the angle of the bracket but once you tighten all the bolts your good to go. Same thing mirror for the passenger side.

Ooooopppss....I didn't pay attention to the fact that he has a civic. I can't vouch for the civic, but I would GUESS that they should still fit. If 88-89 crx seats fit into a 88-89 civic, then yes, the EF8 seats will also directly bolt in (I never checked to see if civic and CRX seats are interchangable). Same bolt pattern.
