has anyone done this? does it work?

It works. But, I believe 3M pulled scotchguard earlier in the year. Your best best would be to find some 303 Fabric Protectant. Stuff is awesome.

I dont think it lasts 3 years though..more like 1 year. And, a benefit is it gives the car a "new car" smell after application.

Last year, 3M abruptly discontinued Scotchguard, a $200 million-a-year product. The archive reveals that 3M knew since the 1970s that Scotchgard, believed to cause reproductive harm, was contaminating the bloodstream not only of its workers, but the public and wildlife worldwide.
