Accord repair info on DVD & VHS
I just finished production on a DVD that shows from start to finish how to correctly perform a timing belt replacement on the Accord. This DVD shows the tools needed (some store bought and some you can fabricate yourself), disassemby, water pump replacement, seal replacement, reassembly, setting the timing marks, valve adjustment, and shortcuts the pros use.
After watching this DVD, you will have the confidence and knowledge to do the job yourself, do it correctly in 3 hours or less, and save hundreds of $$$$.
Running time is approximately 30 minutes.
This DVD should be available in the next couple of weeks, and will be very reasonably priced ( I will post the release date and price as soon as I have it).
Other titles will be following shortly, including:
Performing a major service on the Honda Accord
1990-1993 Accord transmission diagnosis and TCM repair
Accord MIL diagnosis
In the meantime, I would appreciate feedback as to how many of you might be interested in this information.

Tough to say; I suppose it would depend on such things as how much the video is, and more importantly how clearly it differentiates itself from a well-written service manual.
Manuals have a huge advantage of being portable while you're out under the hood, but a DVD might be able to better offer hints and details a step-by-step manual is more likely to ignore. Too many times have I come across some important detail that wasn't covered in a manual that had the potential to completely stop the job.
After owning my '91 SE since 1999 and bringing it up to 211,000 miles I am just now becoming interested in doing more maintenance myself in order to save money. And it's probably more than a little overdue for another timing belt (we had one put on at roughly 95,000 mi when we bought it because we didn't know if it had ever been done.)
My experience is mostly old Detroit iron; my #1 frustration with newer cars is how hard they can be to work on. Perhaps this is a bad example or just indicitive of my inexperience, but for instance I had to punt a front motor mount replacement over to the dealer because I couldn't remove the old one at the bottom, despite clearly seeing how it needed to come off.
In theory, a timing belt/water pump job doesn't scare me, and I'm not an idiot with tools, however the potential of screwing it up and having to tow it, and explain it would be far worse than just writing a check to my dealer.
If you can direct me to more information about this, I might change my mind and be more inclined to entertain a DVD purchase.

i would seriously be interested. (PM me also if there is beta test you need to run on the DVDs, you know if they would work on my machine!
) in all seriousness, i want to look at it since i would think it would help me do a timing belt job... forexample, you could post somewhere on the internet a short clip compressed in wmv format of what we could expect in terms of quality and stuff? (dude, if you need some editing done also, let me know... i might be able to help you out doing it myself, with no charge.. ofcourse the benefit is i would get to see it for free...) in anycase, i will surely spend 9.95 right now, since i am about to order the Timing belt kit after i finish writing this post... i wonder if i ever will need the DVD after i am done with the job though.... i very much think this is quite a noble idea, not in the sense you benefit, but also it helps newbie's like me on doing stuff like Timing belt easily without every spending the whole day trying to figure things out....

I would definitely be interested. I have a '93 SE with 90,000. I am in the process of learning how to do my own mechanical work. This sounds like a reasonable price. What qualifications do you have (mechanic, etc.) to qualify you to provide accurate information? Thanks for doing the leg work!
i have an accord with 120k, and i dont wanna pay and arm and a leg to do the timing belt, if you put a few extras in there, like basic maintenence, wheel bearing, un fogging lights, paint codes.........................i bet you would get a heck of alot more customers, GOOD IDEA! i might get one off you.
