How safe is it to pass your service miles?
I am currently at 7,520 miles, meaning that I am 20 miles over my service. My appointment is on Saturday morning, but on Friday I will put 30 or so more miles on it. So I am asking, how bad is it to pass your service miles for say...100 miles? Thanks.
my cousin goes about 5k miles in his civic before changing oil..and his car has 150k miles on it...and he drives it like he stole it.. so it cant be too bad.. dont hold me on that though
Great! Thanks guys for the reassuring input. I felt bad for every mile that I passed after 7,500...but now I can drive with comfort.
Yep, other than oil change, at 7,500 most of the service is "inspect" and "top-off" fluid.
What's there to inspect ? Dust in engine bay *sarcasm*

From what I remember the 7,500 service is just a way to get some money from you.. they don't do anything you couldn't easily do yourself.

20 miles over!! OH MY GAWD! You best have it towed before something breaks
Why don't you LOOK in this thing called a manual to see what's involved in the "7500 service"? It's prolly like an oil change and some fluid checks; stuff you can do AT HOME.[Modified by Lee Chun, 10:35 AM 12/13/2001]

Yeah dealerships don't know ****. Just look in your manual or the Haynes and see what needs to be done. I think its just an oil change. If you can't find it, I'll post what needs to be done for ya!

Yeah, I especially like their "top off fluids" part. If its low, doesn't that imply a leak of some sort? Except engine oil, I guess, since its known to burn off a bit.
