Default price quote

yesterday I smashed in the front end of my 6th gen. I went under the rear of a van. There was no damage to my front bumper frame...only the front kit/lights/hood. at which case pushed my radiator/ac/anytihng else in the immediate front backwards. i took it to a mechanic and he said i was looking at 4g's worth of work. does that sound like a good deal? from what i understand there was no damage to my engine. i'm also giving him the OEM lights to install cause i had black housing lights...which looked so good...which were only in for 1 month...anyway. is 4g's a good price to get what this sounds like fixed? my airbags didn't go off either btw. i wanted to just buy a body kit and cf hood and have him install that but i don't think he would let me do that. he said he was cutting me a break anyway and i don't want to push it at this point. i just want my car back

4g's sounds about right if you are planning to bring it to a mechanic, but if only body parts needs replacing like hood/lights/bumper/radiator/hoses/ you can do all that yourself for a little under a grand.

a helms/haynes/chiltons would help you 100% on the items i listed if those need replacing, and you only need basic tools to get it done... if i were you i would try fixing what you can and the rest bring it back to the shop...

oem hood - 200-250$
oem headlights - 100-250$
radiator -75-120$
f. bumper - 100-150
misc. hoses - 5-10$

these prices i put is what most people sell em for + ebay prices

i had a similar accident with my 02 4dr so prices should be similar...

yeah thanks, thats about what i quoted it to be in parts alone...just i can't replace/fix the radiator brackets and parts like that that got bent out of shape and i don't think the mechanic would fix the bare necessities and charge me accordingly ya know? so 4g's it is...

i just want her back...

hmm you could always check local junk yards and remove a radiator bracket from another car... youll prob get it for cheaper if they dont remove it for you...

4grand is alot of $ honestly for parts you can get yourself for a little under or over a grand... the extra 3g's couldve went to a turbo or something

I think 4 is a little high. When I T-boned a car at 40mph (they ran a light) in my '97, Honda did all the work. Hood, bumper, one headlight, radiator, windsheild and the airbags popped; all done by Honda for $5500. I had their insurance send me a detailed expense report so I could make sure everything was good . The airbags alone cost over $2500. I think 4K is pretty high but then again its a different (newer) gen. then my car.

Yeah if you do it yourself off junkyard parts, you will save a shitload of money. It will be less then 4 grand. More like 2 for what you did (compared to my rebuilt 91)
