Maint. Req. light flashing...what to do?
i have a lil over 56,000 miles on my car and now the maint. req. light is flashing... i kno it flashes at 30k, 50K, and 90K.....or sumthing close to that... so my question is...how do u kno what needs to be fixed... it flashed 10 times if that helps any...unless ur suppose to count right when it turns on then its 11.....uhhhh...so any help would be much appreciated!
if its your maintenance lights flashing, it's just telling you that its time to take it to the dealer and get your oil fixed or whatever needs to be done at that time.
you can turn it off by reaching under the right of your steering wheel(the side where the dimmer for the tach is). there should be a green button somewhere under there. just turn your car into the on position and push and hold it till it turns off. i think yoshi made a pic of it. if someone has it please post.

thanx for the responses... but i already kno bout the button. guess i shouldve mentioned that.... yeah it already flashed at 50k which is normal.....but my question is why is it flashing at 56,02? miles......its kinda odd if ya kno wut i mean....so something must need to be fixed right? i remember someone talkin bout codes with the cel light..is it the same for the maint. light? TIA
it goes off every few thousand usually indicating the need of an oil change.I think mine may go off every 3 thousand, not sure exact number

Look in your manual, you will see the service intervals... it'll tell you what is due.

READ YOUR MANUAL! it says exactly how many miles your car will go between lights.....it is a precautionary light for people who don't know a damn thing about their car....some people don't think they need to do anything to their car except put gas in it. This light makes them worry so they take their car to the dealership where some $20/hr technician pushes the button for you and gives you a bill, there are no sensors associated with this light it is only triggered by your odometer.
