anybody make a supercharger for crv?
i want a crv for the winter and want to supercharge it. jackson racing discontinued it. since the head is the same as an ls, shouldn't the integra kit work? i am familiar with the b series motors, thats why i want a crv, winter car. but i just want that extra torque the stock motor doesn't have. what about a vortech kit? the accesories should be the same like the p/s, a/c and stuff so the belts in the kit should work i would think. can anyone help me out?
I think Jackson was the only one. Shop around, even though they quit manufacturing them I'm sure there's got to be plenty sitting around in somebody's warehouse.
Do you have a 5 sp or automatic. I know my 5 sp is pretty high strung on the highway (4 grand on the tach at 80
). I'd think a supercharger would kill the fuel economy with that unless you put a large pulley on it, at which point you are negating the low end boost that the CRV so desperately needs. And with as week as honda automatics are, boost would be baaaad there.
I'd think a turbo set up would be a better fit for this type of application since there is a lot less parasitic loss (a bit of back pressure) compared to the supercharger.

The head on the b20b, b20z, and b18b motors are identical, except for minor camshaft differences. Therefor the intake manifold bolts are identical so they do line up just fine. The intake manifolds are separate between the above listed motors, but they do interchange. I cannot confirm on the pulley's, as I believe the cranks are different.
JRSC would work fine in this case, but boost works too. Just my 2c.
Keep in mind the b20 has more torque down low than most other b series motors and more of a weak top end as far as hp, so turbo lag wouldn't be that much of a burden.
Again, my 2c.
Good luck either way.

Superchargers don't kill gas mileage. Why do people think this? You aren't ON the gas, there is little or no boost. Of course, you have to maintain speed, so there is a little boost, but not much.
You can still get the Jackson Racing Supercharger kit for the CR-V. My 98 is right now being fitted with a supercharger, transmission cooler, new suspension, and a valve job on the head at Shaeffers Import Auto in Woodbine MD. You can e-mail me at justint@manyroads.org if you have questions. If you want ,run by and take a look at my V which is still in the process. Tell them Justin sent you. Joe Shaeffer is a great guy and knows his stuff.

So your saying spinning a supercharger at 4 grand while cruising down the highway creates no drag on the engine? That just doesn't make sense to me...just because the engine isn't using the boost that the blower is making doesn't mean it still isn't actively pumping air. That's the whole point of a supercharger over a turbo...the boost is always on so that you can open up the throttle body to let it in without waiting for a turbine to spool up. And at 4 grand, depending on the pulley on it and what type of supercharger you use, that could be quite a few psi that you are working to make (and heat as well), just to recirculate around to nowhere.
I would think it would make a pretty good dent on your overall milleage compared to a car with a much lower top end gear that cruises, say, at 2 grand where you aren't spinning the supercharger worthlessly. Plus, I would think the blower whine would get old very quickly.
My thoughts, i'd be curious why this logic would be wrong because I would love to do a supercharger over a turbo on my crv because of the ease of installation (no exhaust work!)
