is anyone familiar with the soft led glow that bmw's have? projected on the instrument panel and console is a soft orange/red glow that's cast from a led mounted into the rearview mirror. has anyone installed anything like this? is so, what's the best method and supplier?

i'm sure mounting some leds in a bracket that is fitted behind the rearview mirror would yield similar results.. sounds like a fun project.

 

so much work? isn't that the name of the game. if it was easy, everyone would do it. all that's involved is removing a portion of the headliner and running electric from the parking lights to the rearview mirror for the console illumination. I was also going to put an led behind the side glass at the back seat by the seatbelt, on each side of the bench.

 

let us know how it goes.. i wouldnt be opposed to trying this myself. radio shack has some amber leds, but they're pretty bright, might wanna throw some bigger resistors in front of 'em.
