Default I Have kind of a rant.

First off let me intro myself... My name is Doogie and I am new to the Honda Tech forums. I kinda have an issue I would like to address with some of those in the forum.

My girl has been posting on here for a little over a week and requested some help about her prelude but a few people on here just cut her down and told her to use the search and spell things right.. Where is the respect here!? I have been on other forums for quite some time I.E. Vwvortex. I would just like to know where the proper etiquette is on here. My biggest peeve is when someone tell you where the seach button is.. That's just out right mean. If you were to use proper forum etiquette you might have tried to search yourself and then post a link containing information about the problem. Not just curse at people because they can't spell VTEC. C'mon now people. For those who do try their best to help whoever it is no matter what my hats off to you but I haven't really seen anyone like that on here. These forums are here to help develop a community of enthusiasts and tuners alike to help each other. Not to cut down on someone who has a really odd question. I mean c'mon now it wasn't some question like "What color should I paint my wheels?" It was a true technical question that needed actual techinical feedback. I am not here to cut anyone down I am here to make the point that the rules here arent being followed and I hate to see a good community turn into a bunch of haters.

What if any information / opinions change since the last time that question was asked then what?

Well anyway the moral of this post is treat noobs with respect and be nice.

Thats all,
Doogie

lesson one: don't take the internet personally.

lesson two: people get irritated with really repetitive questions that can be easily answered by using the search. perhaps it doesn't excuse rude behavior, but it is imperative that people be TAUGHT to rely on the search more.

lesson three: some of us are nice. better yet, some of us know what we're talking about, personally if i had to choose between the two i'll take the "know what we're talking about" over nice.

sorry your gf had a bad experience, but this place is a valuable resource if you know how to maximize its potential. as unpleasant as it is running into internet hardasses, i think it keeps this place from turning into the MKIV forum @ vortex.

I do agree that people do need to learn to search but rudly telling them is not the proper way to go about it.
Agreed about the MKIV Fourum. I just think that some of you needed a little reminder.

oh, and learning the hard way sucks.

I learned that making my car produce a smokescreen would soon require me to purchase injectors, fuel filter, and cat. I wish some more people would have called me an *** and made me cry before I did that.

bad-monkey pretty much hit the nail on the head.

Repitive questions that could be answered 10 fold by the search function, are what usally cause fits of rage. Also, try reading the FORUM RULES before creating any type of post, this could also prevent such outbursts.

This is the internet, and if you take anything personally then you have a serious problem.

if you have a technical problem here it usually takes 1 or 2 bumper before the right person sees the thread and awnsers the question. if you want to link me to the page your g/f created i can try to give some advice about her problem

Agreed!!

This is the best Honda site out there. Bottomline!! It is well moderated and it only has tech info. Ricer and appearance threads are not allowed. THANK GOD!! Most of the people here speak from first hand experience, and the people who don't, or act like they know from what they "heard" get flamed.......just the way I like it.

True there is no need to be mean....... noob's or not. Too bad she had a bad first experience...... but when it comes to posting, most people don't do a search. I have seen lots of people who ask a question that is in a post three or four posts down. It does get very annoying replying to the same question over....... and over.........and over.........and over.........and over.........and over.........and over.........and over.........and over.........and over.........and over.........and over.........and over.........

If the search fails or doesn't answer your question completely then by all means post. But when you say that the people should just do a search and post the link to answer someones question, I don't know why the person reading the the thread to help out should spend their time finding the answer through a search.

If the person is new to the site (like we all were at one point), then someone just needs to "mention" how to search.

As for V-TEQ........ that pisses a lot of people off........ that is their prob, not your gf's.

Your GF needs to have thicker skin if she is going to do the car Forum thing, not many patient people here (incl me from time to time). I think you and your GF need to take a step back and ignore the complainers...... someone will answer eventually.

As for the best site out there for ludes (sorry, this is a good site too), http://www.preludeonline.com is by far the best. You can go into generation specific forums. It is a pay site but they are offering 300 free memberships right now. They also have diff. threads for general FAQ, appearance mods, wheels & tires, Detailing, In Car Electronics etc. Check it out, you can access the general discussion (also by generation) without a membership. Just can't post.

Enough of the blah...... blah...... blah......

i would have to agree with this thread i get cussed out all the time i ruiend a perfectly good civic doin things the hard way by my self my thinkkin is somebody has done it bf and thier knowledge is helpful and some times the searched topics dont answer what u exaclty want to know it would be better to split this forum into a gen category i find that 4th gen owners r nicer and 5th gen owners r rich little ****** whos parents buy them everything and dont have to innovate any kind of new mods no offence to the good ones.

Hi doogie. Let's discuss a few things.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by g60scuzz &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">My biggest peeve is when someone tell you where the seach button is.. That's just out right mean. </TD></TR></TABLE>

Well doogie, one of my largest pet peeves is having to explain something so elementary as READING THE RULES every time a rule is violated. My other pet peeve is when my maltese dog pisses on my car, but that's neither here or there. I guess that huge ".| Prelude Forum RULES - READ ME FIRST! |::." at the top of the forum is kind of hard to miss. Maybe I should put it to a size 20 font and make it in flashing red font. But seriously, OMG we are so mean! Seriously doogie, search. You asked a question and there is your answer. Search. Wait. Search. Yep, search. There we go, just search.

Now, you said you were a member on another forum right? What happens there when a common reoccuring question is asked by a new member? Let me guess, they get a batch full of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, right? Already being familiar to online forums you should already know the proper posting etiquitte and have taught your girlfriend the rules by now. Maybe she can't read though, who knows. We'll let you explain that one. And while we are on that note, this type of post is not allowed in the forum since it's not TECH related. That's one of my 3rd pet peeves... when someone clutters the forum with junk.

Next on the agenda, you are not a moderator and this board is not a democracy. If you don't like it, leave. I don't mean to be 'mean' again, but I doubt anyone is truely going to miss you.

One more thing before I wrap things up Doogie, stop using stupid *** smily faces that hold up signs. My girlfriend's 5th grade brother uses those... do you want to be associated with a 5th grader doogie? I think not.

And in closing I would like to say....

cry me a river.

I'm going to leave this thread open because it makes me laugh. Whoever else can make me laugh will get a free title change.

Doogie, I assume you are referring to this thread right here.

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1005837

Well, she did ask a pretty broad question.

Read through the thread again, Only one or two people told her to search.

I gave her a link to the best thread in this forum, which is the FAQ sticky
thread at the top. If she wants to learn about ludes and which one she
would prefer then she should have read through it.

edit:
