3pt or 4pt harness for daily driver
my stock seat belt is wearing away the fabric on my sparco speed so I wanted to use a harness. I don't race of any kind besides the ocassional speeding, so should I use a 3pt or 4pt harness for my daily driver? any comment would be appreciated, thanks
No. Your stock belts are far and away the safest answer for street driving. A race harness will wear the cloth on your seat, too - just differently. Race seats just don't hold up to everyday use.

Yeah, true. Do a search for harnesses; there's tons of flaming in the forums on this subject. You should never use them in a street car without a roll cage. They hold you straight in the seat during a roll or crash, while the roof caves in to crush your spine.

I thought it was unsafe to have a harness in a car that is not caged because there is no slack for when you flip over. MY suggestion stock belts
I could care less if the roof collapse with the driver strapped in the seat, that's just his/her own issue. But having a harness on a daily driver means that you can't turn your shoulder to check blind spots when you change lane or back up. That is inconsiderate and put other people's cars and lives at risk.

Sparco speed is a fixed seat that is very similar to the sparco fixed-back race models. I don't know if even the oem belts would allow him to get out of the way of a roof collapse, would they?
But yeah, harnesses on a daily driver is a bad idea, for several reasons.

when i used to double duty my 98itr (track wtw/commuter), i only used the lap portion of the 5 point harness on the city streets.
it kept me planted in my seat very nicely.
then i'd take the oem seat belt and connect it normally (over the lap belt).
lap harness belt + oem seat belt.
i've never used the shoulder harnesses from the 5 pt. on the street, even when i had a roll bar.

I had 4 points in my street car for the last year....
I recently got so fed up that I reinstalled the stock seatbelts....
IMO they are the only way to go for the StReETZ!

And Takata belts are made right here in the US.
