what do you think of this manifold?
I'm having a guy from california make me a log mani, and I was wondering what you guys think about the welds? overall quality?
thanks

thanks

the one on the left side in the pic jumps out at me and screams 'convex' though it could be lighting or whatever. they're decent welds, the middle one looks the best of the three. the right hand side looks fine, except that he's kind of all over the place.

even the left two are a little to the center...so, the whole thing is a little off! If they guy measures a little better it would look and work sweet

yes the pieces are a little off. I t was not cuz of my measurement.lol I was have problem with my saw the whole day. First it would not cut and cuts crooked. I had told brambos about this sitiuation. But I am goin to fix it. The third weld is crooked cuz the cut was crooked.

Just an update on the manifold. anthony is so cool, that he offered to make a new one for me just because this one was messed up from his saw's cutting. His bandsaw is now fixed and he won't have cutting problems anymore. Just to show his level of customer service.

let me try..
1. Thick Stainless head flange =
2. T is off center.
3. Welds look amature
4. The two outside top holes look bigger than the others - probably didn't measure right.
5. Overall poor engineering of the head flange.
6. Logs belong in toilets..
meh, if your on a budget....

i believe he is reffering to the fact that the metal was heated too much in certain area of the bead. in my opinion this is an alright manifold considering the misalignment issure is being fixed. i really never care about looks - especailly in the engine bay. my engine bay is as grimy as can be with half-assed **** all over the place. apperance is so far down on my list i will spend money on air freshners before it. and i have never bought an air freshner in my life.

lmao
Man this just proves to me some peeps dont know what they are talkin bout.
1) thick stainless head flange huh. Its 1/2 cold cold rolled carbon steel. No 1/2 inch is not thickl for a turbo manifold. Look around all top companies are using 1/2 inch cold rolled carbon
2)T- is off center. U got this right buddy. Did u read my post? I said i was gonna fix it cuz my saw was messed up thats y the cut was off.
3) can i c ur welds? Look amature but guarantee it wont crack. Im a beginer never said i was a pro. But I can guarantee my **** is sturdy. Give me time my **** will look good.
4) I dont know wat u talkin bout. If you talkin bout the whole on the flange I really think you should say anything.
5)This 1 is funny. Can you tell me why it is a poor design. Thats pretty funny cuz I bet more then half of the peeps and fabrication companies on here uses the exact same flange and get it from the same guy. Guess all our flanges is garbage.
6) logs belongs in a toilet huh. y is that? Its a really good mani for a hella good price. I rather run a log the a revhard or drag anyday.
Im sabah thank you for explaining it to me. I aprreciate it. Yes i did do it too hot in certain area cuz i did multiple pass. There was a lil under cut after the first past so i went over it.
I do not post on h-t alot cuz when I do post I wanna be sure I know what I am talkin bout. Hate fools that post up something the think they know but in reality they dont know ****.

I've made a couple mani's like that get him to put the ends that will be welded to the flange and crush them in a vise so there oval like the ports
make sure it matchs good when he welds so it still flows good

Are you having a bad day? relax bud - don't post pics if you can't handle a critique.
1. Looked like stainless. I was wrong.. so what.
2. Welp.. he said it looked "BURNT" <- #4, and that was my best guess as to why. You can't argue that in that picture the T is off center or that the welding is not the greatest.
3. I'm not going to do the welding on my manifold - just like i dont do the body work on my cars, i leave it to the PROs. You bet i'll post pics when it's done.
4. the side ones look bigger.
5. I have a full-race head flange right in front of my keyboard - it's better, go look at one.
6. I was just joking around.. see ---->
and thats just me - because i dont have money to burn either.. but many people totaly agree with that statement weather you like it or not.

first off, you may ask why i am posting in defense of anthonycn? well, it can be mostly attributed to me being in an arguing mood and the fact that i feel like flaming someone saying stupid ****. also you can attribute it to my severe bordem from being inside all day, or maybe even the fact that i have not moved my bowels since early this morning. whatever the case, here it is:

ummmm... ok.
how exactly would the 'T' being off center cause his welds to be burned? consider the fact that the runners were welded without the presence of the flange behind it. yeah... it really doesnt make any sense does it?

so what? first off, it could be the angle. secondly, even if they are, who the **** cares? oh no!! one of my bolt holes on my turbo flange is too big!!! minus 50 hp y0!!!111!!!one
its going to be covered with a bolt and washer anyways. besides, having a little space is good so that the flange can expand a little and not destroy the bolt.

I agree that the welds look amateurish, but it's nothing to worry about. It takes a long time to start putting down a nice bead. Stainless is a joy to weld. I think you're off to a great start, and the head flange looks good to me. The reason the two far holes on the top are larger is to allow for expansion. I've seen a manifold shear off an exhaust manifold stud 'cause of expansion.
Are the welds 100% penetrated? If so, did you purge the inside of the manifold with argon while welding? If not, you'll have "icing" on the inside of the welds! So be careful with that!
